Chapter. 29

Haley's POV

"You are surrounded!" Archie yelled. "Drop your weapons!" He ordered. "Come on Haley! don't you wanna join the family reunion?" Archie smirked.

"What?" I asked.

"Oh, you didn't hear? We've got your brother Alfie locked up for treason. We haven't decided his punishment yet, it could be execution, torture, starvation. But at the moment we're thinking of a blood pet. Do you wanna join him? You could be my blood pet if you want." Archie smirked.

"Over my dead body." Tom butted in.

"That can be arranged, lover boy." Archie said. Archie quickly lifted up his gun, aiming at Tom. Tom was holding my gun! Is he not gunna do anything about it! I quickly grabbed my knife out of my belt and threw it, piercing Archie's gun and knocking it out of his hand. I grabbed my gun from Tom and shot Archie in the leg.

"You bitch!" Archie yelled, clutching his leg. I like these guns, they actually hurt vampires. We still had the other vampires to worry about, so I quickly shifted into my wolf. Knocking all of the vampires to the floor, before being shot in the arm. I limped, determined not to let my wolf change back to human. That's when the unexpected happened Joey launched into the air as a blonde coloured wolf, shredding some vampires into nothing. We all sprinted away as soon as the vampires were dead or injured. Me and Joey shifted back,

"What the hell!" I said at Joey, "you never told me!" I said

"Yeah, but I wanted you to like me for me not because I'm a werewolf." Joey grinned.

"What about all those times the vampires attacked you, you didn't shift then." Tom pointed out.

"Well I didn't want them to know." Joey said. "I only found out about it all during the blood games." Joey said. My arm was pouring out with blood by this point. I flinched as Tom touched it gently to examine it.

"We have an hour till our flight." Tom said, opening a door to a building. "Let's stay here for a bit, then the vampires won't suspect we're leaving the country." Tom said. We followed him inside the building which must have been an old family home judging by the family pictures hung up on the walls.

"I'm just gunna get some rest." Joey said, walking out the room, leaving a smirking Tom behind.

"So, it's just you...and me....alone." Tom smirked, wiggling his eyebrows.

"Your so kinky at times." I grinned. In seconds our lips were together as he pushed me against the wall. "I feel really bad. Everyone is out there fighting and dying and then we're in here 'making out'." I said against his lips.

"But you've fought so many times, it's your turn to relax and let others fight for you." Tom said, his lips against my neck as he kissed the scar he made on me. "Is it true werewolves have 'mates'?" Tom grinned

"Yeah, but I'm like the only female werewolf, I don't think the same applies to me." I grinned.

"Good, because please tell me you'd reject whoever your mate is." He smirked.

"What if it's you?" I grinned.

"Then you get to spend the rest of your life with me, you lucky thing." He smirked. We both sat down on the sofa for the next hour, just enjoying each other's company. I was curled up in Tom's lap, his arms wrapped around me, pulling me into him. "We better get going for the flight." Tom said.

"Joey!" I yelled. He appeared a few seconds later, his hair all messed up, he must have been asleep.

"Right let's go! I've printed off the tickets." Tom said. We grabbed our weapons and ran for the airport. There was no security checks due to the war because they wanted to rescue as many refugees. We shoved the guns in a rucksack we found at the house as we waited in line for the plane. We were waiting at the gate for what seemed hours but it was only ten minutes.

"Oh shit." Tom said abruptly

"What?" I asked as we showed our tickets to the flight attendant and walked on board the plane. We sat down on a row of three, me in the middle to avoid Tom and Joey killing each other. Tom pointed to row after row of black army trucks, which could only belong to the king, coming up the airport track.

"Oh shit." I agreed. I crossed my fingers tightly, I knew they wouldn't shoot our plane out of the sky because they'll want us alive. It's whether we take off quick enough that they don't get time to stop the flight. Tom placed a hand on my thigh, squeezing it in reassurance. The plane door shut as it started down the track. The black trucks pulled up as a large figure climbed out of the vehicle. The king. He'd spotted Tom and glared at him through the window, but all Tom did was stick his middle finger up at the king, before smirking. Then the plane sped up and took off into the air for a long journey back to England. Reassurance took over me, we're safe, for now, it's a new life ahead. The thought that killed me most was that Brooke should be on this plane, she should be going off to a new start in life, not me. Or was Tom right? Did I deserve this for what I've done in my life. What I have learnt is that life is a roller coaster, but it's up to you which stop you decide to end at...
