Chapter. 16

My heart was pounding, I was drenched from the heavy rain, lightning struck down and thunder rumbled. I wasn't cold though, only depressed. I quickly ducked as a knife skimmed the top of my head. I turned to face a girl I knew, Sydney's friend. Why was she still alive?

"Is it really worth killing someone?" I spat.

"I-I want to win." She shivered with cold.

"Well I advise you to leave while you can," I said, "the vampires are near because I've ran into them, don't waste time on me." I lied. She nodded and ran off. I heard an earsplitting scream and quickly turned around. All the vampires stood there, blood smeared and dripping off their faces and the lifeless body of the girl at their feet.

"Hey Haley." Tom evilly grinned. "Where are your little friends?"

"I don't care about them anymore." I lied.

"Oh, so you don't mind if we go and kill them." Tom laughed

"If you must." I said, a pain in my stomach at the thought.

"Or we could get the other two survivors first." Tom said,

"Suits me." I said, wiping my forehead from rain.

"Catch you later, Haley." Tom said, walking on. It was hard to forget that they were monsters, blood sucking monsters.

I ran for miles and miles until I stopped abruptly. I bent down and picked up a stone before throwing it in front of me, the whole arena flashed. I was at the edge, a closer step and the black strap on my ankle would electrocute me. I sat down and started to pull at the strap, harder and harder, until my whole werewolf strength was in use, then I heard a snap as it fell off. I picked up a stick and threw it at the arena and it burst into flames, just what I thought, it was electric, but strong enough to kill me, a werewolf. In frustration, I threw my black band at it. I'm an idiot, in some ways smart, but mostly an idiot. The whole forcefield blew up, knocking me off my feat as it started to collapse into the arena. There were screams and yells, throughout the arena. My eyes were blurry as I lay on the ground, barely conscious. Everything around me was on fire, but I squinted through the hole in the arena, to see daylight, real daylight, not artificial light, rain, and darkness, but real daylight. The warmth on my skin was refreshing and calming, though my hands and feet were numb. I was practically in a haze, I thought I was dreaming as a truck pulled up beside me.

"Haley?" A voice said, but my eyes were to dizzy and I fell unconscious.

I started to stir, before waking up slowly. I was in a small room, laying on a bed, but it didn't smell of vampires, the smell wasn't anything like that.

"Haley?" The same voice said. I nodded and rolled on my side to find out who the person was. An older boy, probably nineteen or eighteen faced me,

"Who are you?" I asked

"Your brother." He replied. My heart froze. I did recognise him, how could I ever forget him. He was the youngest of all four of my big brothers.

"Alfie?" I said stunned. "I thought you were dead!" I said.

"Me dead? I thought you were dead when we found you lying still, after practically blowing up the blood games arena." He laughed,

"Then, where have you been all this time?" I asked

"Down here." He replied casually.

"Where is down here?" I asked

"It's where all the werewolves in the world have come to get strong and ready for the rebellion." He said
