Chapter. 24

Tom's POV

I practised my aiming with the gun in my hand, shuddering at the thought of having to kill innocents for the king. If the king's plan works, the werewolves are screwed. It seems too unlikely for it to work, but the bad part is, I think it will work. The kings plan to clone the best fighters out of the survivors of the blood games, would be a ticket to win, but will it even work? I just hope that Haley has stopped the werewolves from drinking water, poisoned with the serum, or the king only has to press one button for them to kill each other. I knew Haley hated me right now, even though I've forgotton what it is she hates me for, so it couldn't be that important. I shot the last dummie, clean through the chest, before packing up and leaving.

"Hey lover boy," a snigger came from behind me. I didn't turn around, but shot the floor near the intruder. I knew it was Archie, and judging by his squeal, I must have shot quite close to him.

"What do you want?" I said bluntly, still not turning to face him.

"The king wanted me to tell you that he wants to speak to you. Was it really neccassary to shoot me?" Archie asked. I rolled my eyes, before turning to face him. Our faces were inches apart as we both shot dagger glares into each other's eyes,

"Firstly, I didn't shoot you, I shot the floor." I spat, "and secondly, don't expect someone holding a loaded gun to not shoot you if you sneak up on them." I added.

"I didn't sneak up on you, lover boy, I think this whole relationship thing is getting to your head," he spat back.

"Just do yourself a favour and fuck off," I smirked, turning around and leaving.

***

I groaned as I waited outside the kings office. I knew he was my uncle and all, but he scared the shit out of me.

"Tom, come in!" A voice yelled that I instantly knew was his. I reluctantly twisted the door knob and opened the door, before walking in. "Sit down," he commanded. I took a seat in front of his desk as he rubbed his chin briskly. "Now, Haley's body has gone missing from the courtyard. Do you know anything about this?" He asked.

"What do you mean?" I lied.

"Look! She couldn't have magically got up and walked away, she's dead for crying out loud!" He yelled at me,

"Sorry, sir!" I said, shifting in my seat. I looked at the ground before saying, "sorry, I don't know anything about it." I lied, "somebody must have just thrown her body out by accident." I added.

"Anyway, we will be launching the attack in exactly two weeks, the cloning is underway." He smirked. This is exactly what I feared, the cloning would work.

"Ummn great," I lied.

"And once we have their 'pack leader', or as they call them 'the alpha', in our hands, the whole lot of werewolves will do anything they can to rescue him." He said

"Wow, you've really thought this one through." I said through gritted teeth. "Are we killing the werewolves?" I asked.

"Any that get in our way, we will kill, but any in leadership or worth something, we want as prisoners." He said. Poor Haley, I couldn't imagine her being locked up here for the third time. I know the vampires won't kill her the second time round, because of the war, they will want her as a weapon.

"Any thing else I should know?" I asked.

"No, you may leave," the king said, pointing to the door. I stood up and headed for the door, exactly two weeks till peace will be ruined. A part of me wanted this war to happen in the hopes that the werewolves will win and free the humans, but I know the vampires will win.
