I woke up abruptly, suddenly realising there were vampires surrounding me. Tom was stood at my side,
"Morning sleepy head," he grinned. I remembered what had happened, Tom had taken me to my room and I had fallen asleep. "The kings on his way to finish what he was going to say yesterday." He said. The door opened and in walked the king,
"Miss Jones, we have decided upon a plan." The king said. "We have decided to let you live an ordinary life but with a price. You will have to attend the same school as the boys so they can keep watch over you and the price that you will have to pay is every year you have to participate in the blood games," he said
"Firstly won't I get killed really quickly? And secondly, won't people get suspicious if I'm always picked at the draw?" I said
"Well, you stayed alive throughout the first half, so if you always win the blood games, you will always have to compete every year." The king said bluntly
"I'd rather be killed than have to go in that arena again," I challenged
"That can be arranged," Archie chimed in.
"And if you don't, we'll just lock you up for ever and use you as a blood pet." The king said bluntly.
"Fine." I said defeatedly. If it means getting a half ordinary life, I will continue with the games.
"Tomorrow the games continue, but you are to act like an ordinary tribute. None of the humans and most of the vampires don't realise your a werewolf. We will pretend that we killed the werewolf they saw, which means under no circumstances are you allowed to use your wolf side as an advantage." He said.
"How am I going to win each year then?" I said
"Come on, Haley, you have to be one of the best girls at combat," Tom said.
"Are the vampires still allowed to kill me?" I asked
"I don't think any of the vampires in the games will be dumb enough to take you on mostly because you took the king on and you've ripped two Virtūte's into pieces." Archie laughed
"They're still allowed to kill you, your life has to come to an end eventually." The king chuckled. "You have until 6:00pm, when you'll be escorted back into the arena. We are giving you all one night before everyone is allowed to kill again. You have one hour." He said before walking out. I was left with five vampires I couldn't stand, Tom, Archie, and the other three vampires that I don't actually know their names but they always seem to be tagging along with Tom and Archie.
"See you tomorrow, honey." Tom winked, before I had a chance to move, he had kissed my cheek. The vampires all left the room and I heard the door being locked behind them.
----
I was woken by a familiar alarm, I had to return to that dreaded arena. My door was unlocked, so I walked out into the corridor.
"Haley?" A familiar voice asked sounding shocked.
"Joey!" I yelled running over and hugging him.
"I thought they killed you, it's in the newspapers that the vampires eliminated the werewolf for treason." He said, hugging me tightly,
"It's just a cover story." I sighed.
"So, I guess it' back to that arena." He sighed
"I wander if we find our tree again, but I think we should move trees because the vampires knew which one we were in." I grinned
"Yeah," Joey agreed
"Where's Brooke?" I asked worriedly.
"She's fine," he said, "but she hasn't spoken to anyone since you were taken." He sighed
"I'm sure she'll start speaking when she sees me again." I sighed.
"Attention, all tributes, please head down to the main hall. I repeat, please head down to the main hall." An announcer called.
"I guess I'll see you in the arena." Joey sighed
"See you soon," I sighed, forcing a smile.
