Next Day
"So what all do you need? I have a car seat and a crib I could fix up sooner or later." I informed her.
We were riding to Walmart with Tristan in the back singing and jamming to Mickey Mouse on his mini screen TV I had in stalled. That boy real life goofy. I chuckled watching him dance on his booster seat.
"I keep telling you no Chris. I got it." she said to me from the passenger seat. I looked at her sideways.
"Wit what job hmm?? And what money?? If I remember the conversation from earlier correctly, he took out all your savings and any income that was going to YOU. So, tell me; how you gon get dhis shiid again?" I asked glancing from the road and back again.
She shifted down and signed in defeat. Rubbing her barely swollen belly.
This girl could have everything she wants from me, but she letting her pride get in the way.
"A diaper bag, bottles, clothes; the essentials. If you still have them at home like you said." she said finally agreeing after a while as we pulled up looking for a spot.
"Ight, I got you, Candy." I said as I finally found a spot to park the car.
HOME
I brought all the things in and grabbed Tristan from the car along with his food.
"Go sit at the table and eat Doodah. I'll be right back." I tell him at eye level. He nodded and wiped chicken nugget crumbs from his face before he ran off to the table.
I walked to the guest room with the babies things and sat them against the wall. I watched Candice as she decorated the walls with big head giraffes and other safari animals and objects.
"You need help? You look... Like you strugglin." I laughed. She looked back at me and handed me a bald eagle. I reached up high with no problem and adjusted it, stepping back as she embraced me suddenly. I hugged her back tightly and took a sniff of her familiar cotton candy smell laying my chin on her head.
"I owe you for real Chris. Thank you frann." she said kissing my chin and leaving a glittery greasy mess there after she pulled away.
A few more inches and I swear..."It's coo girl dang. That's what friends are for right?" It sounded outta character for me. I just... I didn't like this "friend" thing. I wanna be there for her 24/7. Even with Aleah around. I'll support it all the way. My baby or not.
She looked up at me and friends knowing something was bothering me. I tried leaving the room, but she pulled me back by my hand.
"Wassup Chris? Who peed in your Mountain Dew?" she asked seriously. I suppressed my laughter at the mistake she made and looked down at her closely.
"Nothing Candy. I'm good." I said pulling my hand from hers. She pulled me back again and looked at me with a frown and a couple of new worry lines.
"Chris, talk to me please." she pouted. She always got me with that puppy dog face growing up. I thought I grew out of it, but as my heart raced, I could see I didn't as I looked at her now.
"I.. Gotta check on my son." I said exiting room. Tristan was playing with his toy cars on the floor now.
"Food all gone?" I asked him. He nodded and I headed for the trash can in the kitchen. He tends to throw stuff away he didn't like. Got that from me.
Nothing but the McDonalds happy meal box and a couple of empty water bottles in there. I thought to myself.
"Good. Wanna go outside?" I asked brushing the crumbs from his face and clothes once again. I grabbed his backpack and wiped his mouth of the dried up mixture of ketchup and honey mustard on his face and looked at him make a face.
"Mmm, yess!! Can I ride my b-bike momma?" he asked patting my knee like he didn't wanna hurt me.
"Yes you can pooh." I said sweetly. He jumps up and down running to the front door.
"Nu-uh, poodah! C'mere! NOW!!" I shouted sternly. He rushed over to me wiping his chin and saying lightly.
"Yes momma? Wha I do?" he frowned like he knew something was wrong. I kneeled down and and looked at him seriously.
"Nothing. You just have to slow down okay? Wait on mommy." I informed him. He nods and I pick him up to go to my room while I changed into comfortable clothes.
I placed him on my bed and turned on my Curve TV onto sprouts. He sat down instantly and watched Pepa Pig. I shook my head. I wonder what he gon be like with a phone.
I looked through my closet drawers and took out some cargo shorts and a Bulls Jersey. As I slipped outta my pants and said into my cargos, I heard a light thud coming from behind me.
