"Ambria why would you leave the house without me? What were you thinking?" I was thinking that I was a big bother to you. And I thought I could fix my problems on my own. But I was wrong I caused a bigger problem.
When I don't say anything Orion continues, "come on Ambria I thought you knew better than that! Especially after everything that's happened with Everly. You know I really thought you were smarter than this"
As soon as the words are out of his mouth he realizes what he's said. But it's too late to take anything back. I know everything he's said is true. What happened to Everly is my fault. What happened today is my fault.
Orion stares at my face and I can only guess at what he sees. My eyes must be down cast and I bite on me lip. A line appearing between my eyes.
I can see that he is trying to think of something to say, some way to take it all back. He can't say anything though.
I turn away and start walking back to where Orion's house is located. Orion follows behind me still sulking. I ignore him, not sure what he could possibly be upset about.
"Ambria I didn't mean it that way. I was just mad and it came out that way." He tries to grab at my arm but I slip away from him. I don't reply to what he said and I don't care. I know he meant what he said the only thing he does regret is saying his thoughts aloud.
"Ambria listen to me. I'm sorry! Everly is not your fault she could have been arrested for anything especially with this corrupted government. And I'm just an idiot who doesn't know anything. I let my feelings get the better of me. Please say something Ambria!" He tries to reach out to me, but he just pushed it too far. You don't come back from that.
"Orion I agree you are an idiot but that doesn't mean what you said wasn't true. I am at fault for everything bad that's happened to all of us." I glare at him and see that he does look awfully sorry. "Why are you even helping me? Do you pity me? Do you think I'm incapable of handling things on my own? If you don't want to help, you shouldn't have come after me Orion. I could've dealt with everything on my own."
"Ambria stop I want to help and it's not because you need me. It's because I want to be part of something bigger than what I've been doing. And I would never doubt that you couldn't deal with it alone" he sighs, "Ambria you are not stupid. I didn't mean to say that. You are more than you think you are."
"What? You were thinking it and it just slipped out? I'm still mad at you Orion! This doesn't fix anything." He makes a step closer to me and I don't back away.
That's the closest Orion has ever gotten to complementing me. It made me feel special but that doesn't mean I'm over what he had said earlier. It still hurt, I could just ignore it for now. I lose eye contact with him and and turn away.
We head back into the cabin and Orion leads me into what I assume is his bedroom. The walls are a light grey and his bed a dark shade of black. A few clothing garments lie around the room and a desk is tucked into one corner of the room.
