POV: Avalie
I really didn't feel like talking to Zach. I mean he lied to me, and I didn't understand why. Plus it doesn't make sense that he didn't break up with Char after she was the one that cheated.
I was in science, and lunch was next hour. I didn't know if I could deal with talking to Zach today!
-But girl, what is he gonna think when you say that?
I don't know!!!!
Exactly maybe you should um...JUST ASK HIM WHY HE LIED!-
The voice inside my stupid head was right, as always.
-Hmmm that's a real shocker considering I'm always right!
Shut it-
Pretty annoying right? Why did boys always have to be such confusing assholes? I really needed Seth right now. He was the only normal guy I knew, always such an open book. At least around me. I really didn't want to wait until tomorrow to see him. I already missed him TOO much. I wrote a note to Char;
HEY CAN WE PLEEEEAAASE GO TO PRESTON TONIGHT??? I CAN'T WAIT ANOTHER DAY!
I crumpled it up, and chucked it to her seat. It hit her in the face, then fell into her hair. I resisted the urge to start cracking up, as I glanced at the teacher to make sure she didn't see me throw it. She hadn't.
Char glared at me and flattened out the note. He shrug her shoulders and nodded.
Yes! We were going to spend two nights back in town! My dad was supposed to be getting home tonight, too. I grinned and discreetly pulled out my phone to text Seth.
A: HEY GUESS WHO'S COMING TONITE?
S: WOULD IT B U?
A: YUP!!!!
S: AWESOME! CHAR COMING TOO?
A: UM DUHHH!
S: COOL ;) GTG
A: BYEEEEE
The bell rang signaling the end of he period, and the start of lunch with Zach. I nervously made my way to the sandwich shop.
While I waited for him, I fiddled with the napkin holder. The little bell on the door dinged quietly, I looked up as he walked in. The smile on my face was plastic and forced.
Zach noticed, "What's wrong? Bad news about Seth?"
His concern was sweet, "No, not that. Remember yesterday, when we were talking? You told me that you dumped Char, and that's not true." I avoided his eyes nervously.
"Oh," he looked guilty. Caught in a trap. "I know."
"So why did you lie to me? It doesn't matter much who broke up with who, it's the lying. Why should I trust you anymore?" I felt my face getting hot, tears starting to gather in my eyes. Damn tears! This happened every time I got mad!
He looked flustered, "Avalie listen. I said that, because I didn't want you to worry."
Now I was just plain confused.
He went on, "I didn't want you thinking I still had feelings for Char. I know how girls get all insecure and stuff."
I was a little shocked at this, "I don't know if I believe you, you have a record of lying."
He didn't respond. Instead he took my face between his hands and kissed me, delicately and beautifully. "Believe me," he whispered.
I just nodded, too stunned to speak. The rest of lunch was spent giggling and blushing. I couldn't take my eyes off his sweet face.
~~~
Char and I loaded our bags into the trunk of her car. I had offered to drive us to Preston. I really wish I had a car to get myself around, but hey at least I had Char. I was still giddy from my lunch with Zach.
Char stared at me with suspicion, "Alright, what got you all happy today?"
I blushed. "Zach kissed me," I murmured hoping it didn't make her mad.
"Awww so sweet," she said sarcastically, then laughed. "Well all this lovey stuff is making me want to puke!"
I smiled, "Whatever. You're just jealous."
"You wish," she laughed. "I'm a free woman. It doesn't get better than this."
"I think it does."
"Blah, blah, blah, Avalie's in love. Please spare the rest of the world from your annoying happiness."
I kicked her, and she slapped me. "I'm driving!" I laughed.
It felt good to be going home again. I missed it after three days away. I smiled, happy that I could talk to Seth again. I glanced at Char, you know they would make a really cute couple.
