POV: Zach

Avalie had facetimed me and told me about everything that had gone down. I felt terrible about what happened with Char and Avalie. They rarely fought! I also hated that Seth and Avalie weren't getting together. I felt guilty, but I had already wasted too much time standing off to the side. Char had chose me, and now I had to prove that her decision was worth it.

That was why I was on my way to her house right now. Luckily, I knew how to get their from trips we took last year when we dated. I pulled into her drive, got out, and rang the doorbell.

A blonde-haired guy answered the door, one of her brothers. He reluctantly gestured me inside. This guy was barely older than me, but he dressed like he was in his forties. He cleared his throat, "Yes?"

"Hey, um is Char here?"

"I am not aware of CHARLOTTE'S current whereabouts. She may or may not be here at the moment," He said distastefully.

-What an asshole.-

I grimaced, "Would you see?"

"Yes, I can check." He walked up the stairs as slow as possible.

I fought the urge to run up there and push past him.

-That wouldn't look too good.-

"Charlotte?" He called.

-Charlotte?

She hates being called that.-

Char came walked down, looking pissed off. Her face brightened when she saw me. She hurried down, "Zach!"

"Hey Char," I wrapped her in a hug.

"What are you doing here?" She asked giddily.

"Here for you! We're going anywhere you want today. Any preferences?"

She rolled her eyes, "Anywhere that's not here."

I gestured at the car, "Then we're off!"

After clicking her seatbelt into place, she looked at me. "So you met Tommy."

My jaw dropped, "TOMMY! For someone like him?" Realizing what I said, I took it back. "Sorry, I didn't mean-"

"Trust me I know! But he prefers 'Thomas'." She mocked.

"Is he always so-"

"Uptight? Yeah. He used to be fun, but my family has a way of sucking that out of people. So where are we going?"

"I told you, your choice!" I looked at Char expectantly.

"Laser tag!" She quickly gave me the directions to her strange request. It was at the mall about ten minutes from her house.

Char was a lot better than expected, and she ended up beating me. Three times. "How dare you Charlotte!"

"Never call me that!" She growled and tackled me.

I lifted her in the air, "What are you going to do, CHARLOTTE?"

She protested until I set her back on the ground.

She giggled, "Zach why would you let me forget how much fun you are."

That struck me by surprise. I was lost for words, "I-I don't know."

Char gave me a quick kiss on the cheek, "Well I made the right choice."

We were now sitting on a bench in the middle of the mall. "I should have never let you slip away."

She looked a little sad, "I was stupid to leave. But no worries Zach, I'm yours."

She was so beautiful right then. Blonde hair, green eyes. "Char I want to be able to show how special you are. It was hard to see you with Seth, too hard. Thank you for this chance."

She kissed me, her eyes lighting up before they closed. We couldn't keep it long since we were in public, but it was still perfect.

After talking for awhile, we came to the topic of Avalie. "Char, shouldn't you forgive her?"

Her features hardened, "You don't understand. She had no right to do that. It was selfish. Avalie told me to do that, because she knew it would help her."

"Don't you see? She did it for us! I don't know what I would have done. I couldn't keep this charade up for much longer. She's your best friend, don't forget that. Remember how she risked herself to get Jeff arrested. She's done amazing things." I looked at Char hopefully.

"If Avalie's so amazing, why not be with her! You seem so close! I'm mad at her, okay?" She looked close to tears.

"Char, please. Don't, it's not like that."

She stared at the ground, "Please. Just take me home."

My heart fell, I didn't want her to go. The day had been so perfect, why was this happening? Instead of protesting, I just nodded.

"Goodnight Char," I whispered as she stepped out of the car.

She just waved, didn't even turn around.

"Stupid, stupid, stupid!" I yelled at myself and drove away. I felt like I had lost her, after I finally got her back.

No matter what, I would fight for Char.

POV: Char

-Way to ruin every chance you ever had with him!-

I wanted to cry, but I held everything back. If only I could tell Zach why I had been so unforgiving. It was like I couldn't even control myself anymore.

I flinched at my dad's expression when I came into the living room, "Where have you been Char? You knew we were going to see Mike tonight! This is family! You don't just forget about it whenever it's convenient for you!"

I couldn't help it, I began to cry. "I'm sorry daddy! I wasn't thinking! When are we going?"

He sighed and hugged me tightly, "You and I can go right now."

I nodded and went to put my shoes back on. I stepped into the cool air, breathing in deeply.

The drive was quiet, except for the buzz of the radio. It had begun to rain, fast but light rain. The headlights shone on the road, highlighting the glimmer of the wet ground. I had pulled my hair up in a tired bun. It was already 9:30, and I was exhausted. I didn't care, I was going to visit Mike.

I closed my eyes when they came in contact with the rehabilitation center.

???...???...???...???...???...???...???...???...???...???...???...???

Why did Char and her dad go to the rehabilitation center? Does this have something to do with why she's been kind of unstable? But I mean Char's not the one in rehab. Right??? I can't not update for you guys, even though it gets hard to keep up with. 33 chapters and I feel like I still have so much! Ugggghh! What do you think of the story? I know it doesn't have an exact point, just kind of the story of five(ish) friends.
