POV: Avalie
I was exhausted when I woke up that morning. Char was already awake, and tapping away on her phone. She hadn't noticed that I wasn't asleep anymore.
Until of course Seth ran in the room and tackled us.
"Raaaahhh!" He screamed, "Wake up! I'm hungry!"
"Seth!" I was holding back laughs as we tried to push him off of us.
"You'll never defeat me!" he bellowed and kissed Char on the cheek.
She blushed and swatted at him, "Seth!" She whined.
They were absolutely the cutest couple! I love seeing Seth so happy again, after his dad leaving. They hadn't made up so far, and Seth said that he didn't have any intentions to.
We all headed downstairs for breakfast. Elle had made her AMAZING waffles! She made this strawberry syrup to go with them, fresh strawberries and raspberries, not to mention whipped cream! "Yay! You made waffles!"
She laughed, "What else would I make? We also have breakfast smoothies!"
We all grabbed them excitedly.
"This calls for a toast!" Seth raised his glass.
We all clinked plastic glasses.
"To our beautiful best friend Avalie!" Daniel toasted.
"To Daniel's awesome recovery!" I called out.
"To my gorgeous girlfriend!" Seth smiled as Char pecked him on the cheek.
I saw Zach's jaw tighten a little bit at those words.
We were interrupted by Drew's crying from upstairs, "I'll get him!" I volunteered.
Zach followed me, muttering something about getting stuff from his bag.
I pulled Drew out of his crib and held him. He began to quiet down.
Zach stepped into the room, "Hey Av."
"Hey. Why'd you come up here?"
"Just wanted to talk."
I nodded, "Go ahead."
"Well I had a lot of fun, it was a great idea to go to the amusement park."
I sat down in a rocking chair, "Just get to the real reason you came to talk to me Zach! How are you holding up?"
He sighed, "Honestly, not that great. Avalie I messed up big time. I let Char go, the only person that I think I actually could end up being in love with! And I let her get away!"
"Zach come sit down," I pointed to the floor next to me. "I need you to promise me something."
"What is it?"
"I know it's painful for you, but at the moment Seth and Char are together. This might not last, we don't know. But as long as it does, you aren't going to do anything to stop it. Just let them be happy, because it's the happiest either of them have been in awhile. If you really think you could love her, then you need to let her go. Do you think you can do that?"
Zach looked at me sadly. I could tell those weren't the words he wanted to hear. "I guess I can," he agreed reluctantly. "But it won't change the way I feel."
"That's okay, as long as you promise and try to get over it. Do you promise?"
"I promise."
I have him a tight one-armed hug, "Things will work out Zachy."
POV: Daniel (OMG a new POV!)
We were riding in the car on our way back to Preston. I had loved Avalie's party, even though I got tired at the amusement park.
I was just glad to be recovering. The doctor told me that I should be able to play football again next season. That was a relief. The idea of not playing football my senior year was unbearable.
I shifted a little bit, I was crammed in the backseat next to Avalie. I didn't mind one bit, she smelled so damn good. She was pretty, even in just her t-shirt, yoga pants, and messy bun.
Yup, you heard me loud and clear, I liked Avalie. I had ever since the accident. She had just been so encouraging, she made me feel like I could face it all. Always so sweet and caring. She was also beautiful. I didn't know why it took me so long to realize it.
I hated myself for liking her. I knew that as far as girls went, I had a lot of options. I'm not trying to sound cocky, but there were a lot of girls asking me out. They had all become a little shy after the accident, but were warming back up.
But I only wanted one girl. One special girl.
At first she had been dating Zach, so obviously it was a no go. And now she seemed like she wasn't interested in dating anyone. I wished I had the courage to ask her out, because Avalie meant something to me.
POV: Avalie
Char, Zach and I were at the grocery store buying food to take back to school. I'm calling it food, it was mostly fattening snacks. We selected all kinds of treats. Treats I didn't need, that were sure to make me fat. Char on the other hand, never seemed to worry about her weight. She could eat whatever she felt like, and stay skinny! It wasn't fair!
I had just put two bags of sour patch kids into the cart, when the store bell jingled. In walked someone I had hoped I would never see again.
Cara.
Zach noticed how tense I had become, "Avalie what's wrong?"
"Remember how I told you about my ex best friend Cara?"
"The one who turned into a bitch, then dated Seth?" Char asked knowingly.
"Well she's here!" I whisper-shrieked. I pointed her out to them, trying to be discreet.
Cara, like always, was showing off. She wore a loose off-the-shoulder tee that left some of her stomach exposed, a tight miniskirt, and FISHNETS. Slutty much?
"Why do you hate her so much?" Zach asked quietly.
"Well I haven't told anyone this guys, I don't like to talk about it. Anyway, back when she started acting bitchy to me in the middle of sophomore year, I tried to stay her friend. I was stupidly hoping that she would stop, but she just got meaner. One day we were going at each other, and she told me something I never wanted to hear. She told me 'You're dad's a cheater, did you know that?'. I got so mad at her for saying that, I slapped her. I told myself she was just a stupid liar, but I couldn't quite shake the feeling that she was telling me the truth. I hated her for it, but I never told anyone. Not even Seth. All that time I thought she was a lying bitch, and it turns out she was right." I was shaking now, after that confession. The thought made me so angry, I wanted to cry all over again. That's what made it so hard when I found out that it was true, because I secretly knew it all along. I was just too stubborn to believe her.
They looked a little dumbstruck.
"How-" Char started.
"Lucky guess. I don't really know. We should go." I definitely wasn't up for reliving the past.
...............................................
So now you know why Avalie hates Cara SOOO much! How do you think Cara knew? After the last chapter a few people said that Daniel needed a girl. Obviously you now understand he's pretty hung up on Avalie! Agggghhh! Another love twist! Do you think they should end up together? I'm hoping for 1000 reads soon! Keep reading!
