Chapter XVI: Way to Twist Things Up

POV: Seth

Char hadn't really been texting me much as the days passed by. It had been almost three weeks now, and I hadn't seen her. It was a Thursday, and after school I was going to visit Daniel.

Eighth period was dragging on, I hated history. We were taking notes on cold wars. I swear, didn't we already learn about these like four years ago? I tried to pay attention, I already had a B in this class. If it dropped any lower, my mom would kill me. Yup, she was one of THOSE moms.

The bell finally rang. I stuffed everything in my backpack and left, not bothering to stop by my locker. I was in my truck and heading to the hospital. I felt bad that I hadn't been visiting Daniel like I should be. I mean I was the one who had gotten him into this mess! I wouldn't stop feeling guilty until he could walk again.

-If that ever happens.

The nurse rushed me towards the hospital room.

-Was something wrong? What could've happened? How could this get WORSE?-

"What's wrong?" I asked feeling a little light-headed.

"Daniel just moved his left leg! About ten minutes ago!"

I couldn't believe this, finally, SOMETHING! I wished Avalie was here with me, I would have to text her later.

When we came into the room, Daniel was looking up at me with a huge grin on his face.

I ran and gave him a big bear hug, not caring whether I looked manly or not. "Dude, your going to walk again!"

"Hopefully, but it's going to take a lot of physical therapy." He smiled tiredly.

"I'm so sorry I put you in this situation in the first place," I felt terrible. Daniel had to work so hard, just to walk again.

"No sweat dude. I think everything happens for a reason, and this was one of those things. It's made me a better person."

I was relieved, "So your not a player anymore?" Daniel had been huge player before this, flirting with all the girls.

He winked, "We'll have to see about that."

I laughed, I was so happy. Daniel seemed back to normal, and he didn't hate me for everything that had happened. I couldn't wait any longer, I texted Avalie.

S: GUESS WHAT?

A: WHAT?

S: DANIEL MOVED HIS LEFT LEG! THEY THINK HE'S GONNA B ABLE TO MAKE A FULL RECOVERY!!!

A: OMG OMG OMG!!!!! SETH THIS IS THE BEST NEWS EVER!

S: IKR! U HAVE TO COME VISIT TMRROW!

A: I CAN'T :( CHAR IS GOING HOME THIS WEEKEND :(

S: I'LL COME AND PICK U UP!

A: OK! YAY!!!!!

I smiled and put my phone in my pocket, "Avalie's coming tomorrow."

Daniel smiled.

POV: Avalie

I woke up on Friday still excited from the news that Daniel was recovering. I hadn't seen him or Seth for three weeks, it was killing me. Being around Zach helped though.

We had watched movies, cuddled, laughed, gone to a few parties, all the things that couples do. There was a Halloween party coming up next weekend. Apparently Jackson Prep had crazy costume parties every Halloween. They were supposed to be the best parties of the year. I couldn't wait to go with Zach.

"Avalie can you translate the verb llevar?" Sr. Craw broke me out of my trance.

"Ummm..." we were reviewing.

"Yo-" he started for me.

"Llevo," I answered quickly.

"Si."

I sighed in relief, hoping the day would move a little faster.

Zach looked extremely tired in sixth period. "You okay?" I asked rubbing his arm.

"No," he sighed. "I have a horrible headache and I feel sick.

"Oh sweetie," I hugged him tightly. "You need to go to the nurse.

Zach nodded, and stood up. The teacher excused him. I waved as he walked out the door, hoping he would feel better.

Math was spent talking to Char. We were just doing practice, and Char and I already knew what we were doing. "Are you happy to be going home for the weekend?" I asked.

"No," she scoffed. "They're making me come home because Tommy's coming too."

Tommy was Char's younger of her two older brothers. He was a freshman in college, "What about Mike, is he coming?"

"Of course not, he's too busy with his girlfriend and the new company that he wants to start."

Mike was twenty six and fresh out of college. "Why do your brothers bother you so much?" She seemed to loathe them most of the time. I didn't really understand, I was an only child.

-Not for long-

"They're such arrogant overachievers. My parents adore them, wish I was like them. 'Char why don't you have as much drive as Mike?'" She mimicked her father's voice. "It didn't use to be like this, but the older we got the worse it got. It must be nice being an only child."

"Not really! I definitely wasn't spoiled or anything, just smothered." It was true, my parents had always suffocated me, sometimes it was nice to get away.

"Yeah I guess so, I like it better when my parents just ignore me."

I smiled, "My dad used to be home all the time, never gone on work. It was the same with Seth's dad, but I guess the company got more demanding." I remember how much fun we used to have as a family, I missed it.

We didn't realize how long we had been talking until the bell rang. Char and I headed down to PE.

Gym was, as always, a complete waste of my time. We were playing basketball. Meaning, wearing smelly jerseys that stink like unwashed guy, and watching the over competitive freaks desperately trample everyone. I, on the other hand, just stood there.

After I finished changing, I rushed out of the locker room, I wanted to pack as fast as possible. Much to my surprise, Seth was heading towards me in the hallway.

It felt so good to see him, three weeks had been too long. As he approached me, something inside of me compelled me to do what I did. Out of nowhere, I grabbed his face, kissing him passionately. I didn't know why, or understand how, but it felt so completely right. Until I saw Zach out of the corner of my eye, walking out of the nurses office.

-Shit! Avalie what did you do?-

He stopped dead in his tracks, a broken look frozen onto his beautiful face.
