Chapter XXII

I went to school, bored out of my mind. I had Biology, Gym and Dance today - What could be worse. The only good thing I could think of is that it was the 13th November, and the Two-Year anniversary of meeting James was tommorow, on the 14th.

I wondered around school, before remembering that I could just call in sick! None of the teachers had seen me yet, so I just decided to leave.

I almost made it out un-noticed, but then the devil came along. James. He wasn't annoying, but I was trying to skip today! If Lucy saw me, she wouldnt let me out of her sight, and make sure I went to every class!

"What do you want?" I asked, exasperated.

"Do you wanna come on a date with me?" James asked, awkwardly.

"Yeah sure, whatever. Now can I go?" I said, not paying attention to him.

"When you answer my question properly!" He answered, looking smug.

"What."

"Will you come on a date with me tommorow?" He asked, trying to look cool but failing.

"No. Now can I go?"

"No. If you say yes, you can go. If you say no, youre going nowhere," He said.

I reluctantly gave in, and he let me go home, where I sat and watched movies. I was kind of excited about my date, but I didn't show it much.

"James!" I groaned, "Where are we going? Im tired and this stupid blindfold is cutting off the blood flow to my head!" I was tired and grumpy now, because I had been walking for ages, and my shoes were starting to hurt.

"Hey - This is our first date, remember? Or do you want me to carry you?" James said sarcastically.

"Yes," I said, stopping in my tracks, "Carry me or I aint going anywhere with you!"

James carried me the whole way, complaining the whole time.

"Hey - It was your idea! So stop complaining!" I told him. He threw me over his shoulder.

"What? Put me down!" I shouted.

"Okay," He said, and he dropped me into the lake. Deja vu much? But this time it was freezing!

"H-help m-me out! P-please!" I said, my teeth chattering.

"I aint falling for that again."

"Please? My legs are going numb from cold!"

James quickly bent down and offered me his hand.

"Bad move, Porter!" I said, smirking as I pulled him in.

I quickly climbed out, because it really was cold in there.

James climbed out after me, and put his arm around me. I had lost the blindfold in the water, so I knew I was at the Lake where I first met James.

James got some towels, and pulled them around us. He smiled at me, looking into my eyes. I broke the contact, feeling awkward.

"Uhh... What are we gonna do here?" I stuttered. I pretended it was because I was still cold, but it wasn't.

"Well... I thought we could spend some time together? And I know you love Stargazing! And you love it here at night. Did you know its the Two-Year anniversary of when we met?" James said.

"Yeah. I remember you gave me a cherry lollipop that day, and the year anniversary, and you said-"

"To the most Beautiful girl around, I grant you this gift. 'Tis a gift of friendship, and love, and shall this day forever be remembered as the day of our Everlasting Friendship," James said, slowly coming closer. We moved in, and our lips touched for a few seconds, and those few seconds left me breathless, and I felt as if the most powerful magic known to man had just been released for those few seconds.
