Yes it's short... But it's only an Prologue. Hope y'all are excited for the book!
I sighed and placed the shot glass down in the table while swallowing the fiery liquid. "Can I have another Mike," I asked the bartender with a dead look in my green eyes.
"You sure can Carrie. Ya know, the guy that's at the end of the bar has been staring at you all night? And don't ask me who he is. I've never seen him in my life," Mike informed as he poured me another shot. "And he has a crazy southern drawl."
I raised an eyebrow and lifted the glass to my lips, swallowing the liquid once again. "Eh. Whatever. I don't think I'm interested in anyone, especially after what I just went through with Thomas," I stated ran my hand through my hair.
"Carrie, it's been three months you come here and waste your money two times a week. Maybe you should lay off a bit and find some friends to hang out with. Or hell, find yourself a new man," Mike offered and he stood there with a serious look in his eyes.
Rolling my eyes I quickly shot back, "I don't know if I can. I was just put through hell. If I ever get abused again... I might just..." A tear slipped from my eye. I quickly wiped it away.
Mike gave me a look of sympathy, "It'll be okay, Care. I promise. Ya know what? This one is on me tonight." He walked to the other end of the bar where the guy was and used the margarita machine.
He soon came back with a strawberry margarita. "Thank you Mike. You always know how to make it better," I thanked as I sipped from the drink. Mm my favorite.
Next thing I know is I look over to my right, the guy was no longer at the bar... Then someone sat down on my left side. Oh lord there he is, sitting next to me... And looking mighty attractive I may add.
"Hi there," he mumbled with a thick southern drawl, just like Mike had said.
"Uh Hi," I replied with an eyebrow raised and my hand still on my drink.
"I'm Luke. I came over 'cuz it was lookin' like you were havin' a rough night," he confessed and took a sip of his Miller Lite.
"It's nice to meet you, Luke. I'm Carrie. And yes I am, but I'm not dumping my problems on you... What brings you to Milwaukee," I quickly changed the subject with an eyebrow raised.
"If you say so, Carrie. And how'd you know I'm not from here," he joked with a brilliant white smile on his face. His dark brown eyes almost made me melt. "Well, I'm here for a concert. The boys and I are playing after the Milwaukee Admirals game tomorrow night."
I nodded at him and replied, "That's interesting. You're a singer?"
Luke nodded, "Yeah. My name is Luke Bry-"
"Hey Luke! We gotta get going. It's really getting late. You have promos to do in the morning," a guy informed as he walked up to us and pointed towards the door.
"Okay... Well... It was nice meeting you Carrie," Luke whispered and got up from the bar stool. "Hope tomorrow is a better day."
As he and his friend walked out the door I just stared. He had a major nice ass. I sighed and turned back to my drink, practically chugging it.
