"What kind of a guy does that," Luke asked in an angry tone.

"We were together for four months... the first one was perfect, but... He forced me to move in with him... And... And... That's why I have this scar," I told him as I motioned to the side of my right eye as more tears ran down my face.

Luke jumped up and pulled me up by my hands. He wrapped his arms around me and I dug my head into his chest, crying harder. "Sh sh sh. It's okay Care. It's okay Darlin'. He won't hurt you again. I promise. Oh god. Who treats a woman alike that," Luke mumbled as he ran his hand down my hair trying to keep me calm.

We stayed that way for a few more minutes as my crying slowed. Once I was done Luke pulled away and looked me in the eyes. "I'm sorry you had to go through that darlin'. But, please know. I would never do that. I don't know how anyone could do that," Luke complained as his eyes looked into my red puffy ones.

I sighed and took a deep breath... "Luke... I'm... I'm willing to give this a try..." I motioned between the two of us.

Luke's concerned face turning into one of shock then one of giddiness. He smiled and leaned down, pacing a small peck on my cheek.

"I-I... You just proved that you care. So... Thank you," I moved closer to him and wrapped my arms around his torso, hugging him tightly. Luke kissed my hair.

I pulled back and looked up at Luke chuckling, "Where's your bathroom? I should probably go clean up," I asked him.

"Right down the hall there. It's the second door on your left," Luke informed as he pointed toward the hall.

I nodded slowly and pulled away from his warm grip immediately. When I was done in the bathroom, which was pretty damn fancy, I walked back out to the kitchen where Luke was sitting with his beer in hand, staring down at the counter top.

"You okay there Luke," I asked as I slid into the seat I was in before.

Luke shook his head at himself, "Uh yeah... I was just thinking... How... How does a guy treat a woman like that."

I sighed. "When a girl doesn't give a man what he wants," I mumbled with a sigh as I looked over him with a straight face.

"Is that why he did it," Luke asked with wide eyes. "Did he..." Luke couldn't finish his sentence. He had a look of hurt in his eyes.

I shook my head and put a small smile on my face. "No, he tried... But... But I was always strong enough to get away from him," I told him proudly.

"Good. Good for you, Carrie. I'm very proud of you for that," Luke smiled over at me.

"Why... Why don't we change the subject," I asked. "It's definitely not my favorite subject.

"Okay," Luke trailed off as he stood from his seat. "How about I make us lunch? I bet you miss home cooked meals. You don't have an actual kitchen."

I nodded, "That actually sounds wonderful. Want me to help you?"

Luke smiled over at me as he opened up one of his drawers and pulled out a can of tomato sauce. "If you want to. You don't have to," he replied.

"I'd love to help! What are we making," I asked as I got down from my seat and walked around the island to be on the same side as him,

"How about Pizza? Does that sound good to you," Luke asked as he leaned back against the counter with his arms crossed.

I nodded, "Sure! That sounds great! What do you want me to do?" I walked up in front of him.

Like smiled and asked, "Well, what do you want on it, Darlin'? Grab whatever you want from the fridge. And I'll make the dough."

I opened his fridge and found some onions and peppers. "Hey Luke, what about the cheese," I asked as I put the onion and pepper on the counter.

Luke looked over at me after he put the flour down on the counter. "Uh, I can grate that after I'm done with the dough," Luke replied as he started pouring the stuff out onto the counter.

I turned and grabbed a chef's knife, cutting the stuff. After I was done with the onion I turned to Luke who was just about the throw the dough up in the air.

Just as he did flour went everywhere. "LUKE," I screeched and laughed at him. He had flour all over him, I had little bits of it on myself.

"Oh god," Luke said and laughed his beautiful laugh, "I guess I used a little too much flour so it wouldn't stick to the counter!"

"You think," I asked still laughing. "Oh man! I don't have a change of clothes!"

Luke smiled at me. "I'll get ya some clothes when we put the pizza in the oven!"

About 15 minutes later we out the pizza in the over and the two of us began cleaning up the kitchen. "Luke this is a disaster! I can't believe you made such a mess," I told Luke as we just finished up the cleaning. We had about 5 minutes until the pizza would be done.

"I'm going to go change," Luke's southern drawl came out. "And I'll bring you down a change of clothes so you can change in the bathroom."

After a minute or two Luke came down in some dark blue mesh shorts, white ankle socks and a white neck Tshirt. "Here ya go darlin'," Luke said we he held out a black v neck T Shirt and red mesh shorts. "I hope this is okay."

I nodded and took the clothes into my hands, going to the bathroom and putting on the clothes. Sure they were boyish, but this is what I wear to relax anyway.

When I walked out into the kitchen I asked Luke, "Can I have a plastics bag to put these is so I can bring them to the launder mat soon?"

"I'll just put them in the wash for ya, Carrie. How about that," He replied with a smile as he held his arms out. I gave them to him.

Once the pizza was ready we both sat down and enjoyed it and each other's company.
