"Luke babe," I mumbled as I leaned into his touch while we snuggle on the couch together.
"Yes Darlin'," he asked as he looked down at me with his deep brown eyes and raised his right eyebrow in question.
"Yesterday morning you mentioned us having kids," I trailed off and gave him a questionable look as I grabbed his warm hand lightly.
Luke nodded as he gripped my hand back in comfort. "Yeah I did. What about it though," he instantly asked. He was getting nervous about it. His palms were getting sweaty.
"Well... I-I don't... I don't want to have kids," I paused to get my wording. Luke's eyebrows were scrunched together. "I don't want to have a baby before we get married. So I was thinking... As long as it's okay with you of course..." I looked over at him with a look of hope and nervousness.
"Go on Darlin'," Luke encouraged as his eyes still held a look of question in them. "Get it off your chest," he soothed.
"What do you say we get married at the courthouse... And invite our close friends and family? Then after we're all settled and have a baby we have a wedding that we have a reception for," I offered and braced myself for the worse.
Luke shot me a little nod and thought for a few seconds. "I-I yeah. That actually sounds like a great idea, Baby. When do you want to go to the courthouse and who do you want there," He asked and raised an eyebrow again. He was nuzzling his scruff into the side of my neck.
"Are you sure you're okay with that? That was a little too easy for you to say yes," I confirmed with him.
"Yes baby I'm sure. As long as," Luke leaned down to place a kiss on my nose, "I'm with you and I know we'll be together for life... I'm perfectly fine with it."
"God I love you," I quickly replied and kissed his lips. "But... I was just thinking both of our parents, Carter, and Jessie? If you want you can invite Lee and the kids too."
Luke nodded in agreement. "Alright... That sounds good. When do you want to do it?"
"Maybe like... I don't know... Like January 17th," I asked saying a random date.
Luke chuckled, "Why the 17th? Isn't that like a Thursday or a Friday?"
"Probably but it's just a date that came to mind. 17 is one of my favorite numbers," I quickly replied and giggled.
"Alright. Tomorrow I can call the Courthouse and set it up. We can also call our families," Luke told me and leaned down to kiss me again.
"Luke, you know you're perfect right," I asked and placed a soft kiss on his nose.
He smiled down at me and moved from my grip. "No I'm not, you are! But... I have an idea how about you go get changed. Something you ain't afraid to get mud on," He told me as the two of us stood up and let go of each others hands.
"Alright. Don't forget to dress warm, babe," I joked and giggled at him as he pulled on one of his thick camo jackets. He's a country man who can't take the cold. What will he do if it ever snows?
"Shut up, Baby. Just because you're from Wisconsin and can take the extreme cold I have to take this abuse from you," he sarcastically exclaimed as he crossed his arms.
"Luke! It's 34 degrees outside! This is hoodie weather! And it's not even extreme cold," I replied and quickly ran upstairs to put on some jeans as I continued laughing at him.
Once I came down Luke took my hand and lead me outside and straight to the shed out back. When he swung the doors open he instantly took his cover off of one of the four wheelers.
Luke lead me to the four wheeler as he started it up and hopped on. "Come one baby," he told me and pulled me on with him. I quickly got on behind him and wrapped my arms around his torso.
He quickly took off and drove through the field behind the house. Luke quickly cut through a few trees and to the Cat fish pond. We got to a tree that was to the left of the pond and Luke stopped the four wheeler there. He turned it off and turned around to grab my hand. I gladly took it.
"Why'd you take us here Luke," I asked him as he pulled me toward the tree, "Did you bring fishing poles?"
Luke shook his head and stopped. "No, I took us here because I wanted to put your Christmas gift to me to use," Luke whispered and smiled brightly at me and he pecked my lips, then turned around with the pocket knife in his hand.
"Luke," I said and quickly grabbed the knife from him as we went to carve into the oak tree.
"What!? I want our names to be here forever," Luke exclaimed with his jaw dropped at me taking it from him.
I giggled, "No Luke! I want to carve your name in! And you're supposed to carve mine in!"
Luke shook his head and let me begin carving.
As soon as we finished we smiled at each other and quickly kissed each other. "Would you uh... Would you like to watch the sunset before we head back," Luke asked as he put his arm around my lower back and placed his hand on the small of it. I nodded.
Luke sat down and quickly pulled me into his lap. "It's cold out. I need you to keep me arm," he mumbled as the sun continued to set. The sunset caster the beautiful color of gold on him.
I leaned up and kissed him. "Luke... It ain't even cold," I informed him and rested my head in his chest and continued to watch as he wrapped his arms around my waist.
"It never is when I'm with you," he whispered and kissed my hair lightly.
*** did y'all like it?! I hope ya did!
