"Carrie, are you okay," Luke asked as he reached out to grab my arm in concern.

"Luke, I need to tell you something," I took a deep breath, "And I'm not sure how you're going to react.

Luke's brown eyes soaked of confusion, concern and hurt. "What is it Darlin' you can tell me anything," he spoke softly with his southern drawl even more prominent.

I sat down at the island and out my head in my hands, "That night... I was getting over Thomas still... I was still heartbroken but I knew I had to move on."

Luke's voice was next to me next time he spoke, "What do you mean? That night? I'm not following Darlin'."

I looked up at him and saw the look of confusion twist even more onto his face. "That... That night in Milwaukee. The night we first met. You were sitting on the other side of the bar and I guess Mike, the Bartender, told you that I was having a bad night and that I needed someone to cheer me up," I told him and saw the look of confusion transition to shock.

"You're... You're... Her? You're the Carrie from Milwaukee that I met at the bar that night," Luke asked with wide eyes as he slowly backed away from me.

I nodded and let out a sigh.

"You lied to me," he accused as hurt swam onto his face as he looked down at his feet. Luke paused and looked over at me before continuing, "Why?" The look on his face was blank as he looked at me.

"I-I know I fucked up, Luke. It's my defense mechanism. That's my way of making sure I don't get hurt," I told him and looked down at my lap.

"So what? You don't trust me? Carrie, do you really not trust me," Luke asked as he raised his voice and scrunched his eyebrows together.

"No! No! Well at first I didn't! But... But now, I trust you with everything! It's just ever since Thomas... I've just," my voice broke off as a few tears ran down my cheeks.

Luke let out a long dramatic sigh, "So? That doesn't matter! You didn't think you could trust me! You didn't even think anything of me back in Milwaukee, did you? You're just happy to peruse me now that I'm on the rise in the country world, aren't you?!"

"No! No! Of course not Luke! Why would I do that," I replied with wide eyes.

"You're all the same! I should just stay single! I mean shit," Luke complained and ran his hands through his hair.

"Luke," I started but was cut off.

"Please leave, Carrie. Just leave," Luke mumbled in distress as he took the pan off the stove.

"I don't have a ride home," I mumbled.

"Find one. Call Tyler. Call a Taxi. Just please leave," he demanded and began walking up the stairs, probably to his room.

I sighed and walked out to the living room, picking my phone up from the coffee table. I quickly dialed Tyler's number. He almost instantly answered.

"Hey Tyler," I mentioned shakily as I went to walk out the front door.

"What's up Carrie. Why're you calling so early in the morning? How was Luke's last night," he asked in his normal cheery voice.

I sat down on Luke's front porch and quickly replied, "Can... Can you pick me up from Luke's? He and I... Got in an argument."

"Yeah, of course I can! Can you text me the address? I'm leaving right now. I'll be there soon... Hang on," Tyler instantly then hung up.

I sighed. This is going to be a long day.

When Tyler finally pulled up I instantly stood up and walked straight to the passenger door, pulling it open. "Thank you Tyler," I mentioned as I looked down at my feet.

"It's no problem, Carrie. I'm glad you could trust me and call me," he instantly replied and pulled out of Luke's driveway. I looked up, seeing Luke's house one last time.

After a few minutes of silence Tyler cleared his throat and spoke, "So, uh... what happened between the two of you?"

I sighed shakily and replied, "I uh... I told him about Milwaukee. The guilt was eating me alive."

Tyler's knuckles turned white as he clutched the steering wheel. "And he got mad over that? He calls himself a man? What kind of a man does that," he argued as he looked ahead at the road.

I let out a long sigh, "He was offended that I didn't trust him enough to tell him at the beginning. Then he accused me of only wanting to be with him now that he's famous because I didn't seem interested when we met in the bar that one night." I shook my head at myself. "I'm so stupid."

"No," Tyler started, "He is. He needs to realize that he's the stupid one and that he's the one who pushed you away!"

I shook my head at myself again... I won't be able to get the feeling of his lips on mine off for a long time...
