"Bye Carrie. We're gonna miss you here in Milwaukee. Good luck in Nashville. I'm sure you'll be a big hit out there," my best friend Jessie mumbled into my shoulder as she gave me a tight hug.
"I'll miss you so much. But I'll be back for Christmas before you know it," I replied as I pulled away with a smile on my face.
"I know... I guess I'll see ya then... Have a safe flight and let me know when you get there... Also feel free to drop my name to any hot country singers you meet," Jessie demanded as her eyes glossed over with tears.
I rolled my eyes. "And maybe you can come visit me between now and Christmas. I should have plenty of room in my apartment. Plus I'll be very lonely," I informed and have her a half nod.
She nodded and sighed, pushing me toward the airplane gate, "Now go, or you'll be late. You don't wanna miss your flight."
Soon I was walking off toward the security gate. This is going to be a long day, I hate traveling. Once I got through security I looked at my phone noticing I still had about 25 minutes until my flight would be boarding. I decided to relax at my gate and listen to some music.
When I pressed shuffle on my phone the first song to come on was "I See You" by Luke Bryan. The last time I had seen him was back in April when his friend dragged him away. He's been in the back of my mind the entire time. And his song "I See You" is so relatable. Sometimes I literally will only see him in my dreams.
Once my flight was ready to board I quickly got on and sat in my seat. An aisle seat. Perfect. Soon enough we were done boarding and to my delight I had the entire row to myself. I smiled and laid back, ready to enjoy the ride.
When we landed I quickly jumped up from my seat and began exiting the plane. In the main part of the terminal a load of people were all gathered around someone or something, not even caring I decided to walk to bag pick up.
"Florida Georgia Line is over there," said a worker with an anxious look on her face. She looked to be one of those people to point you in the correct direction.
"Ah, that makes sense. That's actually really cool," I replied to the woman with a half smile on my face.
"Oh honey, you ain't from around here are ya? You got a northern accent. What brings you to this lovely city," she asked suddenly interested in something other than the swarm of people.
"Oh, I've got an internship set up with the Country Music Hall Of Fame. I'll be doing some marketing for them," I informed with a smile on my face. There's nothing that I love more than Country Music.
She smiled at me and began to spoke, "That's very cool Hun! Congratulations, now I shouldn't be holding you. You probably have had a good day... And have fun with your internship! Enjoy the city!"
"Thank you very much!" And I was off to grab my bag from the conveyer belt.
I walked up just as they began putting all of the bags out. When I saw my blue and black one I instantly grabbed it and began walking toward the taxi area. When I found the taxi I smiled at the driver and let him lift my bag into the trunk.
"Omni hotel please," I told him and pulled out my phone to see a text from Jessie.
Jessie Walker 3:53
I miss you already. Come back.
I laughed and instantly texted her back.
Me 3:54
Haha miss you too. FYI I just got here! I'm in the Cab now.
I sighed and went through the rest of my notifications. Only little things like how Milwaukee should prepare for the cold weather coming through and another one about how someone favorited a tweet.
Do I really care? Answers no.
When we got to the hotel I paid the driver, thanking him, and grabbed my bag out myself. I quickly walked in and went to the front desk.
"Hello Miss, how may I help you today," a man with dark hair and a nice slick suit asked with a please tell smile.
"I'm here to check in. The name is Carrie Boyd," I informed with a smiled and folded both my hands on the front desk.
"Okay... I see ya right here, you'll be staying here for," he pushed for a second. "Four weeks?" His eyes went wide.
I giggled at his reaction, "No, that's what my work signed for. I'm here for an internship, they're still trying to find me an apartment in the area."
"Oh, okay! That makes sense," he replied a little more relieved. "Anyway, you'll be in room 517... Here is your room card... And Enjoy your stay Ms. Boyd."
I smiled, "Thank you! Have a great day!" I turned away and walked toward the elevator to get up to my room.
When I got up to my room I smiled at my bed and quickly ran to it, back flopping.
After relaxing in my room for a while I decided to go out and grab some dinner. I found a place just a little ways from the hotel called 'Honky Tonk Central'.
Let me tell you, they have amazing burgers. They also had some pretty awesome entertainment. I'll definitely be going there again.
I began walking back to the hotel. When I got back I got in bed straight away, my first day is tomorrow. Going to be a big day, I'm getting my first assignment.
** Thanks y'all!
