5:40 pmIt was a cold, dreary day in Queens, New York. The rain was pouring down and the sky looked as if it held a promise for it to never let up. I had just gotten off my flight from (h/t) and was starting my journey as a new Brooklynite. I had just picked up my new car from a dealership close to LaGuardia airport. I was on my way to my new home in Brooklyn.
The rain let up a little bit and I was thankful. I didn't want my first day in Brooklyn to be an awful one. My mind wandered as I listened to the patter of the rain on the car roof. I was taken out of my semi-aware trance when my GPS said I wad only a few turns away. I made my last turn and pulled into the apartment complex parking lot. I got out my many bags of luggage and attempted to carry them all in at once. I had two bags in each hand and one being pushed by my leg in. The front desk receptionist gave me a weird look and then a smile.
"You must be moving in." She chuckled.
"Ha um yeah. My landlord said I could pick up my key here since he's out of town."
"Yep! Let me just get your information and you'll be off to unpacking!"6:45 pm
After what seemed like forever with the receptionist, I was finally allowed to take my key and bags and move into my new home. Now, I just had to haul all my bags upstairs to the 3rd floor. Great. There was an elevator but still, I didn't feel like carrying all those bags anymore. I pressed the elevator button and stepped back with a sigh. I waited impatiently when a man stepped up behind me.
"Need some help?"
I turned around to see him smiling at me. I had to admit he was kind of attractive. His brownish, basically black hair peeking out from his black beanie fell perfectly around his brown eyes. He had on a Harvard hoodie and black skinny jeans. I instantly became flustered.
"Uh s-sure." I blushed at how I stuttered and hoped he hadn't noticed.
"Um if it's not out of your way, I mean." I was loosening up a little bit.
"Nah it's fine. What's your apartment number?"
"336"His eyes widened a little. He smiled and chuckled.
"No way! I'm 337!"
"Really?" I asked as we stepped into the elevator. I was internally screaming.
"Haha yeah."We stepped out of the elevator and he grabbed 2 bags. We stopped in front of my door. I pulled my key out to unlock it and motioned him in. I followed after him. He set my bags down against the wall and I followed.
"Alright there ya go. I hope you like the place. I've got some things to take care of so I have to go. If you need anything I'm right across the hall." He waved goodbye and I waved back."Thank you for helping me. You're sweet."
"No problem. I'll see you around."He walked out and I shut the door behind him. I turned around and sat on the couch. I was lucky to find this apartment cheap and fully furnished. I just hoped it wasn't cheap for a bad reason. I started to unpack. I began to think.
Damn it I didn't get his name...
