11:02 pm
We had been driving for a while and there had been little conversation because it seemed Joji was trying to really concentrate on where he was driving to. He didn't have a GPS because he didn't want to give away where we were going. I started to doze off when I saw lights. I finally realized where we were.
"Joj are we going to New York City?"
"...yes. Dammit. But hey, you still don't know what we're doing there."
"True true, but now I do!"We were pulling into the parking lot.
"Ice skating!" I said excitedly.
"Yep. I thought I'd take you to The Rink at Rockefeller Center cause number one it's cool and two it's close to Times Square where, hint hint, we may be doing something or *seeing* something."
"Holy shit! Joj are we seeing the ball drop?"
"Maybe." He just shrugged and got out the car. He's too sweet to take me here. I can't believe this is happening! I'm with a sweet, cute guy at The Rink at Rockefeller Center and am going to see the ball drop with him. I was pulled out of my thoughts again by Joji opening my door.
"You gonna get out or just sit there and think?" He laughed. I got out.
He did the thing where he put his arm around my waist as we were walking. I loved it when he got close to me. We walked up to where we pay for the skating and got our skates. We sat on an open bench to put them on. I turned to Joji and saw he almost had his on, but I hadn't tied mine yet.
"Joj?"
"Yeah?" He turned to me.
"Um can you tie my skates? I know this is stupid, but I can never get them tight enough."He just shook his head and laughed.
"Sure I can."
He stood in front of me and motioned for me to give him my foot. He tied both of them and then we were off. Right before we stepped on the ice I turned to him.
"I used to be a pretty good skater, but I haven't been in a while so I don't know how good I am now." I laughed.
"Well, we'll see how you do."Joji took my hand and pulled me onto the ice. I stumbled a little bit and grabbed Joji with my other hand to keep me from falling. He just laughed.
"How bout we skate over there? You see where it's not crowded over there. You can practice a little."
I nodded and he grabbed my hand again and we skated slowly to the open area by the wall. I loved when he held my hand. His was so warm and I hated it when he pulled away.
"Here, you can practice a little bit so you don't get hurt out there with all the big kids." He said jokingly mocking me.
"Shut up." I just smiled. I started to skate around and get a little more stable. Joji was always by my side.
"So how long has it been since you've been skating? You seem like you're doing fine now."
"Yeah I just needed to get back into the rhythm. Ummm it's been about... well since I was teenager I guess."
"Alright well let's see how you do out there with all those people."
"I'm ready."He grabbed my hand again and we merged into the ring of people skating around the rink.
We were doing fine until I hit a little dent in the ice and stumbled. I tried to let go of Joji's hand so he wouldn't fall too, but he wouldn't let go of mine. Miraculously he kept me up and I didn't fall. I thought for sure we were going down. He must have great balance. I found myself chest to chest with him. He had me pulled in. I started to blush.
"I got you." He laughed a little and let me go. I laughed as well.
"Thanks. I thought for sure we were going down."
"Honestly, me too, but we're not on the ground." We just laughed and began skating again.11:40 pm
We were returning our skates when Joji looked at the time.
"Oh shit! We gotta get going. We gotta get to the ball drop!"
"See I knew that's where we're going!"
"Well we aren't going to be seeing it if we just stand here."I giggled and he grabbed my hand. We got in the car and drove to the nearest shuttle. We got on and it took us to 59th street.
11:53 pm
We walked up to the crowd.
"Wow we can actually see the ball I didn't know if we would be able to."
"Yeah this is perfect Joj!"He let go of my hand to check the time. It was now 11:55.
"Five more minutes (y/n)."
He put his arm around my waist and pulled me close to him. We waited for what seemed like forever when suddenly the countdown started. George looked at me when it got down to ten seconds. He looked kind of... nervous? He started counting down and I did as well.
"7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!" We said in unison.
I was about to shout "Happy new year!", but I was stopped when Joji pulled me in to face him and next thing I knew his lips were on mine. I just melted into him. It wasn't a short kiss, but it wasn't like were making out either. He pulled away eventhough I didn't want him to. George was still holding my hand and he squeezed it as we turned away from eachother to watch the confetti. I could see him looking at me from the corner of my eye. He turned to face me again and got close to my ear to tell me something since it was so loud.
"We should go so we don't get stuck in the traffic coming out." He said loudly.
I just nodded. We made our way to his car and got in. He immediately started driving.
January
12:46 pmI was just starting to nod off when George woke me.
"(Y/n)?"
I yawned.
"Yep?"
"About the kiss. I'm sor-"
"Don't apologize. I liked it... I like you."
"Really? I really like you too. I had a lot of fun tonight."We were pulling into the parking lot of the apartment complex. We got out and he held my hand as we walked to our places. We finally got there and we could both tell we were dead tired, so Joji made it quick in the hallway.
"We should go out again sometime. You're pretty cool." He smiled.
"Yeah I'd love to. You're pretty cool as well." I smiled. He was fidgeting a little bit and then stopped. He put his arms around me and gave me a quick kiss, then let go.
"Goodnight (y/n)."
"Goodnight Joj."We turned away from each other and I entered my apartment and shut the door. I put on some PJs and face planted onto my bed.
I just went on a date with George. He kissed me. He fucking kissed me. I really like him. I hope I see him again soon.
Many thoughts ran through my head until I finally fell asleep.
