CHAPTER TWO

ADAM

“I hope ya’ll are planning on helping us carry the boxes,” I yelled over to Hannah, a funny little girl my cousin and I met yesterday. Walking over to where the girls stood, I looked at the two other girls and instantly recognised them from high school.

“Hey Faith and Selena,” my cousin Skylar said, “I never knew you two applied to Princeton.”

“We never knew you applied here either,” an irritated voice said from behind the girls.

Wait a minute. That voice is so familiar.

Just as I was about to ask who said that Elayna appeared from behind the girls, an instant smirk made its way across my face when I saw the confusion on hers.

“Share the joke Lima?” She shot at me, clearly annoyed that I was finding her confusion amusing.

“There isn’t one, but I am wondering why I should be helping someone that clearly hates all of this,” I waved a hand across my body from head to toe, never once breaking eye contact with her. Clearly fighting the blush that I loved seeing on her caramel complexion, she took a couple of steps towards me, leaving less than a foot between us.

“Then don’t,” She said looking me right in the eyes then turned towards the trunk of the car. She had the most amazing chocolate brown eyes with a tint of hazel that outlined her pupils that I had never noticed before. Completely lost in my thoughts it took me a couple of seconds to realise what she had said.

“Now what kind of a gentleman would I be if I did not help you damsels in clear distress?” I said in a mock British accent, while taking the box that she had just taken out of the car from her.

“I guess you guys all know each other then,” Hannah said following Elayna’s lead and picking up a box from the trunk of the car.

“Yup,” I said, popping the ‘p’.

Just as Elayna said “Nope” popping her ‘p’. Stifling a laugh Hannah looked from Elayna to me then back to Elayna.

“Follow me everyone, I’ll show you where our dorm is,” she said to no one in particular as everyone went to go and grab a box or a suitcase from the cart trunk. Jheez how much did these girls pack?

“Are you girls hiding a moving van somewhere with more boxes?” Ethan asked Selena.

I looked over at Ethan, Skylar and Harry. They all towered over the girls by at least a foot, the smirk at their height differences quickly became a frown though when I realised I hadn’t heard Selena’s answer to the question, beginning to seriously think about whether the girls actually had a moving van parked somewhere, I pointedly looked around.

We can’t be late to the first pre-season practice, it apparently results in a guaranteed seat on the bench as a benchwarmer, with not a lick of play time until Coach Andrews is satisfied that you have learnt your lesson.

“Relax Lima, we don’t have a moving van stashed away somewhere,” Elayna whispered from right next to me. I looked down at her, slightly confused as to how I couldn’t have seen her walk towards the doors of their building where I was standing.

“Ninja much?” I mumbled.

“Nope, you were just too into yourself to notice me walking towards you,” She said putting the box she carried down here. Her hands looked slightly red, probably from carrying the box that looked to be on the slightly bigger side now that I thought about it.
