CHAPTER NINETEEN
ELAYNA
Adam’s damned alarm clock would have been thrown across the room if the nightstand it sat on top of was on my side of the bed instead of his; peeling my eyes open so I could finally shut the damn thing up I glanced around the bed and internally groaned as I realised that I had practically slept on top of Adam.
Jheez why do I bother with the wall?
Our legs were entangled together and I had my head resting on his chiselled chest while he had placed an arm around my waist that kept me in place. I could feel my head slowly rising and falling to the rhythm of his steady breathing. How could he seriously sleep through the incessant beeping of his alarm clock? Because I swear his alarm had the most annoying tone ever.
I tried to manoeuvre myself under his grasp and reached over him to turn the alarm clock off, knocking it to the floor in the process. I winced at the loud noise that emanated from the crash of the alarm clock hitting the wooden floor. I chanced a look at Adam to see him looking down at me with sleep laden eyes and a goofy grin.
“Good morning, bonita,” he said his voice groggy and husky with sleep, I tried to push myself off him not only so I could get a better look at him but to also get myself off his bare chest. My attempt of moving off him was in vain, as soon as he noticed my intentions he wrapped his arms around me and glued me to his chest, “Don’t leave me just yet,” he mumbled.
There was a vulnerability to his voice that didn’t sit right with me. I stayed in his embrace for a moment longer before I pushed myself off him and put my head in the crook of his neck but kept my arms wrapped around him, “What’s wrong?” I asked Adam my voice barely audible.
“Nothing,” he replied as he started to play with a few strands of my hair; the finality in his voice causing me to realise that he wanted me to drop the subject. I moved around so I could look into his eyes before I nodded my head, and with that gesture silently agreeing to drop it. I strained my neck up and planted a kiss on the corner of his mouth before sitting up.
“I’ve got work and you’ve got practice in less than an hour,” I said. I was just about to say something else too when I saw the mischievous look in his eyes that caught my next words in my throat, “W-what?” I stumbled out, the corner of his mouth quirked up as he took in my nervous state.
“You seriously didn’t think that I was gonna let you get away with that peck did you?” He asked with a raised eyebrow, just as I was about to answer his question he flipped himself over me so he was hovering above me.
“Well this seems familiar,” I whispered as I looked up into his mesmerizing eyes and my heart skipped a beat when he gave me that handsome smile of his that showcased his adorable dimples.
“Yeah but last time I wasn’t allowed to do this,” he said before lowering his head and gently grazing my lips with his own momentarily before giving me a kiss that tripled up my heart rate and made the blood flow to my cheeks as I felt them heating up instantly. Instinctively I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him closer to me, all the while he managed to stay on is forearms so that I barely felt any of his weight on me.
“Right then,” he whispered to me; with my arms still clamped around his neck he wasn’t too far away from me so I could feel his breath on my lips when he spoke, “Work and practice,” he groaned, “You wouldn’t want to just stay in bed by any chance, would you?” He asked playful hopefulness in his voice.
