CHAPTER FOURTEEN
ADAM
It felt so wrong kissing Alexis, but she obviously didn’t know that or she didn’t care because she wanted to come inside so we could do a lot more than that.
“I’m sorry, Alexis,” I said dishonestly; I wasn’t sorry, “House rule number one, no getting frisky with chicks allowed inside the apartment,” I said to her slightly slurring my words.
“Elayna Maynard lives there,” she said as if that was a valid counter argument. I looked at her like she was insane, how did she even know that?
“Neither I nor Skylar are getting frisky with her,” I told her simply shrugging my shoulders simultaneously as I said so .
Elayna.
I had managed to keep her off of my mind for the majority of the time since after our fight. After practice, Alexis had conveniently showed up and kept me occupied in her room. I thought I was very into everything that she was doing to me until I just couldn’t be bothered to try to even humour her anymore. It was like my body was into it but my mind wasn’t and no matter how much I drank, it was still not enough to shut it up.
Images of a sleeping Elayna kept on creeping up behind my eyelids anytime I shut them, deciding that it was pointless to go any further than making out with Alexis I’d decided to leave, but she’d insisted on driving me back, so I had reluctantly agreed.
“Come on, baby,” she said as she went back to attempting to seduce me, “Invite me in, only for a few minutes,” she added clinging onto my arm even tighter than before.
“Look, I don’t know how many ways I can say this, Alexis. I’m not interested.”
“You seemed to have been interested not so long ago,” she stated as she let go off me and crossed her arms over her chest.
“Yeah?” Was all I said to her patronisingly, I knew I was being a jerk. But at that moment all I wanted to do was to go up to the apartment and apologise to Puffin. I had been a pushy jerk this morning. I hated feeling like I was being interrogated and that’s exactly what I had done to her.
Alexis just continued to stare at me before she threw her hands in the air and stumped off towards her car, “Don’t ever talk to me again, jackass,” she yelled over her shoulder, afraid that she might start another unwanted conversation if I replied to that, I’d decided to simply stay where I stood and keep quiet until she got in her car and sped off.
Taking a deep breath I turned towards the apartment building, grateful that I had finally gotten her to leave, I took the stairs that lead to the apartment three at a time, stumbling every now and then as I ran up them.
When I had finally reached the apartment, I knocked on the door and waited for someone to let me in, since I had given my keys to Elayna seeing as she said she’d be home before me.
Looking at the time on my phone, I squinted and saw that it had just gone past eleven o’clock. Elayna and Skylar should both be home. I heard some movement inside the apartment before Skylar came and opened the door.
“What’s up, man?” Skylar asked me as I walked in.
“Nothing more than usual,” I replied as I looked around the place. I saw all of Elayna’s boxes and a casserole dish with some delicious looking lasagne in it on the kitchen counter top, but no Elayna, “Where’s Puffin?” I asked Skylar who had just shoved a huge fork full of lasagne in his mouth. I waited for his reply while he chewed his food down.
