CHAPTER NINE

ELAYNA

       It’d already been six strenuous days since I was given the notice of the possible termination of my student halls contract and I had found out that I had just over three hundred dollars in my bank account. Despite Kate having landed me the receptionist job at the gym, I still hadn’t even come up with a third of the money I need, even with the overtime I'd been putting in at the gym instead of going out with the girls. Seriously, how was I supposed to come up with a thousand dollars on a receptionist wage in a few weeks?

A feeling of complete defeat overwhelmed me as I exhausted my brain thinking of where I could possible stay after tomorrow. It would absolutely be too much to ask of Chelsea and Matty since I didn’t have a car to drive myself to college and work every day, living at least an hour away from campus I knew they would feel obliged to help with the transport situation.

I just couldn't add to their worries. I wouldn't do that to them.

Just as I was about to give up and call my mother and ask her for help seeing as I was in this mess because of her, Hannah came bursting through our door, Selena and Faith hot on her heels.

“Right Missy,” Faith said dragging me off of my bed and making me in front of the mirror, “We are not going to let you mope around here anymore, because let’s face it, you’re always either working or in your room moping like some chick out of a Jane Austen novel these days, it’s got to stop babe.”

“Well excuse me if I don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel considering the predicament I’m in,” I drawled out just as I saw Selena and Hannah flinging clothes out of my wardrobe, “What are yous doing?” I asked them as I crossed my arms over my chest and turned to face the duo.

“Looking for a party outfit for you,” Selena said.

“Harry and the boys are throwing a thank-god-we-made-it-on-to-the-basketball-team party at the Lima boys’ apartment,” Hannah continued, “And...”She dragged out.

“Adam asked us to make sure that your little ass turns up,” Faith finished.

“Lima?” I asked them in disbelief. From what I had been hearing from the girls that came to work-out at the gym Adam was in no shortage of female attention. So why would he specifically request that I turn up? “Why?” I said voicing my thought out loud.

“I don’t know,” Selena answered, “But what I do know is that, you young lady, are going to be one hot tamale tonight.” She wiggled her eyebrows just as I groaned. This was a three on one kind of situation and I was not going to win.

                                                                     * * *

“I’m a freaking genius!” Selena exclaimed as she examined herself, Faith, Hannah and I in the mirror. We were all in black bandage knee length dresses with different coloured statement jewelleries on. I had a chunky yellow necklace on and the same styled and coloured earrings that should have looked horrendous but somehow didn’t and instead went well with the outfit.

Hannah some vanilla coloured accessories on. Faith had matched her outfit with some aqua blue jewellery and Selena some siren red ones, we had all decided on minimal make-up, just some clear coloured lip gloss and mascara to lengthen our lashes as Selena had decided that our outfits deemed heavy make-up a sinful combination with it. We all had on high heeled shoes that matched our chosen colours. With our hair down and in a sexy bed-hair do’, I think that it was safe to say that we all looked like hot tamales.
