CHAPTER FIVE
ELAYNA
Finally dressed I looked in the full length mirror that was propped up against the wall in the space between mine and Hannah’s beds. Smiling at my reflection, at last pleased with my outfit; my dress was black and just above knee length, the V-neck cut of the dress and the synched in waist made it dressier than it really was. The feathery peacock tail coloured statement earrings that I had decided on wearing completed the outfit, while my 5” inch heels classed my outfit party worthy. Contemplating on whether I should put a necklace on, I clicked my teeth and walked away from the mirror, I don’t need a necklace.
“Well that took you long enough!” Matty commented from corridor as I opened the door.
“You look amazing Ella,” Hannah said from next to Matt. I had asked her to wait outside while I got changed, not wanting her to see the bruise on my back.
“Yeah you do,” Matty added as he draped his arm around my shoulder, “My little sister really is growing up, going to college parties...going to parties at all,” he said in a sing-song voice.
Rolling my eyes at him I inspected what Hannah was wearing more carefully, since I hadn’t gotten the chance to really see her before I chucked her out of our dorm.
She had on a dark navy bandage dress that stopped at an inch or so above her knees, the most amazing 4” inch red glitter incrusted peep-toed heels, which showed off her red painted toe-nails, whilst matching her bold chunky red necklace and the clutch bag that she carried. She had her hair down and waved so even though I couldn’t see if she had earrings on or not; her outfit was so perfect it didn’t even matter.
We had both decided on minimal make-up since our outfits would be so over-the-top, this was after all our first college party and ‘we need to make a statement’ according to Selena.
“You look pretty good yourself,” I told Hannah winking at her. She just rolled her eyes at me, and then looked over my shoulder at Faith and Selena who had finally come out of their room.
“Oh.My.Gosh,” they both shrieked in excitement.
“You both look hot,” Faith said, while Selena looked myself and Hannah up and down, wanting to major in the arts so she can work in the fashion industry ‘some glorious day’, I knew she had something to add to my outfit. From her bandage multi-coloured dress that hugged her curves in all the right places along with her nude stilettos that complimented her nude clutch bag, anyone could see that Selena was born to be in the fashion industry.
“I’ve got it! I’ll be right back,” she informed the rest of us. She came back with some red lipstick, “It’s perfect and it’ll complement all of our skin tones.” Since none of us were already wearing lipstick and with Selena looking so determined, nobody bothered to complain or refuse.
When we’d finally inspected each other and Faith had changed into my studded black high heels that matched her velvety grey and black dress and complimented her silver bracelet and matching rings better than her grey pair she was wearing before, we were finally ready to leave.
“What are you still doing here?” Selena asked Matty genuinely curious, who was still leaning against my dorm room door.
“I’m escorting you ladies to the party,” he replied causing us all to grumble and protest at the same time, holding his hands up he hastily added, “Hannah did say earlier that you didn’t know how to get there and her Sat-Nav isn’t working.”
