Alex awoke with a start.
"What in the....."
"Alex! Wake your brother up and get down here! Your breakfast is getting cold!". Alex's mom shouted. Alex, not saying anything and rubbing the sleep from his eyes crossed the hall to his younger brothers room, Gabriel. Knocking on the door before he walked into the room Alex started shaking gabe awake.
"Dude get up we got school today".
Wearily Gabe woke up.
"But it's the last day of school, why do we have to go? We never go on the last day!". Alex rolled his eyes and picked Gabriel up and threw him over his shoulder.
"Because little bro, we got finals this time around".
"Don't call me little! I'm only a couple of days younger than you!"
"Oh who cares, you're still going to be my little brother no matter what!"
Gabe rolled his eyes and the started hitting Alex in the back with clenched fists.
"Let me go you ignorant buffoon!"
Alex dropped him without warning, causing Gabe to hit the floor with an "oof" sound.
"Using big boy words are we little brother?" Gabe opened his mouth to let out some choice "big boy words" but their mother called out again.
"Boys stop fighting and get down here now!"
The two boys walked into the kitchen and sat across from each other. Gabriel stared with a crooked grin at Alex.
"What's with the look?"
Gabriel stared at Alex. "I don't know what you're talking about." He said slyly.
Half remembering his weird dream, Alex stared at the boy in confusion. He thought to himself
"There's no way that Gabriel could be anything like that, he could barely play soccer, let alone be a demon or what ever".
"Finish eating you two, you have school you know." The boy's' mother called from the other room.
"Why do we have to go mom? We have never gone to the last day of school before." Gabriel whined.
"Because, you have a final to take, why they waited so long to do that, I will never know." Their Mother replied as if also annoyed by the test.
Alex finished his breakfast, and ran into his room to grab his bag. He looked around the room and noticed his switch-blade lying on the nightstand.
"Hmmmm" He pondered aloud.
He walked up to the object, and quickly snatched it up and threw it into his back pocket.
"Better safe than sorry." He mumbled to himself remembering his dream.
"Not that it would do much against something whatever that was..."
He pushed the thought from his mind and ran out the door past Gabriel shouting
"Race ya' to the bus stop slowpoke!". Gabriel dumbfounded by his brothers newfound energy sprinted after him, his backpack swinging back and forth as he pounded across the pavement.
The two boys raced across the street and down the road, coming to a sudden stop at the end of the street.
"Beat ya!" Alex gasped out of breath.
"Only.... Because.... I don't run...." Gabriel said gasping for breath.
While the two teens stood there, trying to catch their breath, the bus could be heard from the other end of the road before it could be seen.
"Here it comes" Alex said wearily.
The bus rounded the corner and took what seemed like forever to get to the stop.
"Why is it so slow today?" Gabriel moaned.
"Just to aggravate you little bro." Alex laughed.
The bus arrived, the brothers walked up onto the bus. The driver called back at them.
"Seems like they found a way to get you two to go today, took em' long enough didn't they?".
The two boys nodded wearily. The rest of the bus ride slugged by, in what seemed like a daze.
