"Now, may I see that spear of yours' boy?" The centaur inquired.
Alex walked up and lifted the spear cautiously, hoping that he would get to keep it. The centaur hefted it carefully, examining every detail, scrutinizing the markings on the tip, then flipped it expertly and found the tiny button on the bottom. Alex's heart lurched. The centaur smiled when he saw the button, pushed it and the spear shrank to a tenth of its size. The centaur pushed it again and then tossed it back to Alex, apparently not finding any faults.
"You may want to sharpen it, but other than that, it is a fine weapon you have there, and you are lucky to have it." He finished.
Alex clutching his weapon, nodded trying not to show his nerves. He walked back into his cabin, aware of the stares that were gazing like beams upon his back. He pulled his door open and walked inside, not looking back at the crowd. He walked around his room, looking for something to sharpen his blade. He searched every nook and cranny of his new home, but found nothing.
"If you're looking for something to sharpen that spear, you should try the armory." A feminine voice called behind him.
Alex turned on the spot and saw the girl from dinner.
"What are you doing here?" He asked.
"Well, I'm not supposed to be here, actually, we are forbidden from being in a cabin alone with a guy." She began.
Alex made a puzzled expression.
"It's because of who my mother is, Aphrodite.." She finished and looked at the floor.
Alex couldn't find any words. Then said something dumb.
"I think I'll head up to the armory then." He fumbled out.
Not wanting to make a bigger fool out of himself he walked out of the cabin and kept walking till he stumbled into the armory.
