Alex walked out the door and out of the school and sat on the curb. He absently stared at the road. He drifted of into space, daydreaming of the summer to come, the freedom.

"What are you doing?" A strange voice scratched through his dreams.

He looked around and saw a boy he had seen around but never spoke to.

"Just sitting here, is that a crime?" He replied slightly annoyed.

The boy stared at him with a glint in his eye, not speaking.

"Well hotshot? Is it a crime or not?" Alex repeated very annoyed.

"I guess not, not that I know of anyway." The boy answered mysteriously.

Alex shook the dream from his mind and stood up abruptly.

"Alright let's go home." Alex proclaimed.

The boys started the walk home......

"Hey mom!" Gabriel called as he entered the house.

"She's probably at work dude." Alex reminded him.

"Oh, right."

Alex rolled his eyes and walked to his room and dumped his bag into his closet, where he imagined it would sit all summer. Gabe called out from his room.

"Hey I'm gonna spend the night at Josh's house, I am going now, let mom know okay?"

"Whatever bro." Alex called back.

Alex heard the door slam shut and began to randomly play on his phone for hours.....
