The rest of the day flew by, Alex had to move his things to a new cabin. This one was for the children of Ares. The cabin was small, simplistic, it looked like a bunk house from the military. There was no decorations, no carvings in the wood, the cots where stiff, but, he had it to himself, there were no other children of Ares, no brothers or sisters. Except for Gabe...... but to him, Alex was dead.... Alex used his spare time to harness his new found power. He began to do push-ups like crazy, more than he had done in his entire life combined. Then, he a weird buzzing sound came out of no where, and he heard something fall onto his bed. He rose quickly and approached cautiously, on his bed, lay a spear. This spear is unlike any he has seen before, it's hilt was made of ebony, the tip was a gleaming bronze, celestial bronze at that. The shaft had grips that fit his hands perfectly. The pommel was rounded, and had a button, which Alex instantly pressed. The entire spear condensed into a small version of itself, no longer than 2 centimeters. Alex clicked the button again and it returned to normal size.
"Whoa..." Alex whispered.
"It will also appear when ever you call upon it." A deep voice murmured from behind him.
Alex spun around and held the spear at the ready. He found a man who looked to be in his mid 20's, he had a crew cut, he was well built, and was dressed in American army fatigues.
"Who are you!" Alex gasped.
The man looked Alex up and down, he looked like he didn't know what to say.
"I'm...I'm your dad Alex...." He finally muttered.
Alex stared at him in shock, the spear point lowered. Alex didn't know what to say or do, so he minimized the spear, and just started talking.
"It just comes back you say...?" He groped for words.
Ares stood understood what Alex was trying to do, ease the tension by talking about something they are both interested in.
"I had Hephaestus make it for you, when you where born. I have something else for you, but I wanted to give it to you personally." As he said this he held his hand out and a black shield appeared around his arm, a wolf head was hammered into the cold metal.
"This is something I helped Hephaestus make, I wanted it to be strong, I had to make sure of it. This shield is incredibly strong, yet light, and comfortable. It can take a charging bull head on and not take a scratch, and, the best part I think, is that you can summon it, when ever you need it. All you have to do, is call upon it in your mind, and it will appear on your arm, ready to go." He chattered.
Ares looked a lot less tense, he seemed to enjoy talking about weapons and the like.
"So, if I where to..." Alex began.
The shield materialized and the re-materialized on Alex's arm a second later.
"God...." He murmured in awe.
"God-s" Ares corrected.
Alex looked at him and smiled. He had dreamed of meeting his father, and now he had, a god no less.
Ares half smiled.
"Listen son, I would love to stay and chat, but I gotta give you the low-down on your powers, then I gotta go." He chuckled.
"Why?" Alex wondered.
"Because, I'm kinda not wanted in this place anymore." He said crestfallen. "Any way, your powers right? Well, your instincts are heightened, your reflexes are 10 times that of a cat, you have increased strength, and you gain muscle a lot faster than anyone else." He said beaming.
Alex stared at his hands in wonder.
"Really?" He said not entirely convinced.
"Well, the strength you have to earn, but other that that, yea, oh, and you learn fighting techniques a lot easier, like once and done." He finished. "I would love to stay, but I gotta go, they know I'm here now, see ya son!"
Ares disappeared in a puff of red smoke.
