Dinner went by quickly, the other demigods came and went none really introduced themselves, they all looked beat, they had dark circles under their eyes. Some waved at Alex, attempted a smile. He would lower his head and pretend to be engrossed in his meal. The row of tables that everyone sat at where wooden, and lacked decoration, except the graffiti from the demigods who sat there before him, random carvings into the wood, a snake, initials,  small designs, and just in general teenage markings. A kid around Alex's age walked up and sat down next to him. Alex again pretended to focus entirely on his food.

"You're Alex right?" The girl called.

Alex grunted.

"You don't have to be rude, I don't have any friends here either...." She whispered.

Alex looked up at her and was mystified, she was beautiful how could someone that looks like her not have any friends? It didn't make any sense to him.

"At all...?" Alex questioned.

She shook her head and covered her face with her hair. Alex looked down at his food for a second then looked up at her.

"Do...You maybe want to be friends...?" Alex said shyly.

"I would like that very much Alex..." She replied behind her hair.

"What's your name? You know mine, but I don't know yours." Alex implored.

"Ashley." She replied quietly.

"Well Ashley, I think this is the making of an amazing friendship." He smirked.

"Listen, I gotta go, but I will see you later okay?" She said getting up.

Alex smiled and waved and went back to eating, and didn't notice the sly smirk that Ashley wore when she turned.
