This was his father, the man, no god that his mother fell in love with.
"You gonna say something, or are you just gonna stand there with your mouth open?" He said.
Alex blinked a couple of time in quick succession.
"Thanks for the spear." Was all Alex could muster to stay.Ares stood stock still with a black expression. Alex felt heat rise to his face. When suddenly the war god burst out laughing.
"Bwahaha! "Thanks for the spear!" Oh that's good! First sight of his old man, and he says "THANKS FOR THE SPEAR!" He finished with a long laughing fit, tears coming to his eyes.
Alex shuffled his feet nervously.
"I like you already!" The war god spoke at last after calming down. "Well? Lets start your training!"
Alex opened his mouth to speak, to say something about training when he changed his mind.
"Why is everyone acting so weird around me? They avoid me like I'm radioactive." He spoke his thought at last.
Ares stood there staring at the dirt colosseum floor.
"I may or may not have started this war with the gods...." He said after a long pause.
"May or may not?! What do you mean?!?!" Alex roared.
Ares looks up, the fire once again burning in his eyes.
"Listen here boy! I am a GOD! I can do as I please! I was told to see if the demons were still listening to Hades, cause he told me to, and they wanted a new leader, so I asked them if they'd join me. HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT HADES WOULD GET MAD AND DECLARE WAR?!?!?" He screamed the last sentence.
Alex stood stock still. He ran what his father said over in his mind several times before choosing his next words.
"So everyone hates me, because they resent you..." He chose not to reverse the order of those words so as to not enrage the war god further.
After an extended period of time, he replies.
"Yes, that is why the people here do not like to be around you." He spoke quietly.
"There is this one girl though, she gives me the creeps, she is the only one who will talk to me, she's even nice to me." Alex rushed out.
Ares looked up, and stared with deep green eyes into Alexs'.
"Who is this girls godly parent?" He said questioningly.
"She said Aphrodite." Alex muttered.
"Aphrodite.... Damn...." He murmured to himself.
"What do you mean? I thought you were together?"
Looking up Ares said "Not since I started a war... she wanted to side with her mother, who sided with Hades..." He whispered.
