Alex awoke with a start.
"Where am I?" He pondered startledly aloud.

A voice broke the silence.

"You are where you belong Alex."

"Who said that?!" He cried out.

A dark figure walked out of the darkened corner of the small room. It looked female, but the voice was hard to place, somewhere in between. A hood covered the majority of "her" face.

"You are going to be here for a long time Alex." The voice murmured.

Alex strained to get more details.

"Where is here...?" He wondered.

"That will have to be discussed with the council." The voice replied.

The figure slowly lowered the hood revealing a boy, a very skinny boy. The boy had scars on his face, one long scar down the side of his chocolate eye.

"Who are you?" Alex chimed.

"I am a friend, or at least I will try to be." The boy chided.

Alex attempted to rise but vertigo engulfed him and he fell back onto the earthy floor.

"Woah there Alex." The boy cautioned. "You're gonna have to take it slow for a little bit."

"You can't keep me here!" Alex faltered. "My mom will realize i'm gone, my brother will be worried sick, my friends will go looking for me!"

"Actually, you don't exist anymore, we faked your death." The boy whispered painfully.

Alex stared down at the dirt floor. He looked around the room. He willed himself to stand. The boy stared at him in in amazement.

"You shouldn't be able to sit up let alone stand right now." He murmured.

Alex started walking angrily towards the boy. The boy stood his ground reaching for his concealed dagger.

"Alex, wait until you hear what's going on before you go all ham on people okay?" The boy cautioned.

Alex stopped mid pace and stared at him with malice in his eyes.

"Take me, to this council of yours." He growled.

The boy nodded slowly keeping his eyes on Alex.
