POV: Emma
It had felt like ages since I had spoken to Margot and I began to think that I never would again and that she was just toying with my emotions or simply, I had imagined the whole thing, but she finally returned. I was sitting cross legged on the freezing sandstone floor staring at the wall in front. My eyes bloodshot as I let myself slip into insanity where I relived my near death experience over and over. The familiar pressing of my skull feeling returned and my thoughts now could be shared again with Margot.
Hello again. Sorry if it's ha... to hear. I'm a bit f...away. Sharm g... suspicious last time when I stayed at your ro... too long. Now I have ...be escorted by a guard everywhere. So this has to ...quick so please don't interrupt me. My telepathic link will become clearer once I ...closer to you.
Very well then
Here's... plan. Tonight I will t... off the power inhibitors on your co...  and then Aqua, in disguise of a guard will escort each... you towards the lab, and then we will go...an emergency exit that is right next to the airstrip where the last prisoner will be brought in. We will sneak onto that plane with the newest prisoner and escape.
Won't they see us on the cameras?
I have tapped over the feed on certain cameras. Oh, and one more thing. If Dr. Sharm catches you trying to escape he will kill you on the spot. He w.... rather loose his subjects than have yo...live to tell the world about...place.
And then, the echoing, staticky and pressing pain ceased and I once again was alone. However, my loneliness did not lower my spirits and I was finally able to think clearly. The insanity and depression I had felt before was no longer clouding my mind. At first, I thought this was because there was no longer another person having access to my brain, but then a troubling thought occurred to me.
Could this be what hope feels like? To feel that something impossible could succeed?
It was strange to feel this emotion. In the past, I had never thought life would be better for Sammy and I. I had not the slightest desire to poison his mind with something that appeared to be false, thus both Sammy and I were realistic about our fates and lives. However, perhaps what we needed was this hope feeling to help make our lives less sorrowful. Suddenly, I felt another jolt of electricity travel through my body. With one more glare at the camera, I curled up into a ball to go to sleep or at least try to. With the events that would occur tonight, I would probably need all of the rest I could get. However, the electric shocks from my collar refused to allow this to happen, and so I was forced to once again stare into the wall, but instead of thinking back to the time I almost died, I thought about the moments leading up to my capture.
Sammy and I were sitting on the rooftop of our foster home in Houston in the cool, slightly polluted, night air. There wasn't a cloud in the sky to block out the bright, magnificent moon. The moonlight illuminated our faces as I told Sammy about my latest exploration. While he was at school I had taken a rich lady's pearl necklace while she was out for lunch. The ignorant woman had left her window unlocked and I just could not stop myself. I was leaping from rooftop to rooftop after I had snuck out of school and I saw them sitting on her desk. Without even thinking I climbed onto the fire escape below her window and took them. When I showed them to Sammy his face lit up, which made my find even more valuable. After, we went down the fire escape and snuck back into our open bedroom window and I tucked him into bed.
I remember him asking me, "Do you think we'll get a new mother and father soon?"
"It is unlikely, but we do not require guardians to watch over us. I can do that for us."
Sammy nodded.
In the morning, I awoke to the sounds of two deep voiced men talking to our foster parent, Claire. I peeked out the window and looked down at the doorstep below to see two men in identical suits and sunglasses speaking to a nervous Claire.
"Morning Ma'am. Are you the guardian of Emma Beck?" asked one.
"Yes." said Claire her voice getting even more watery.
"Well, she's in a load of trouble. We have nine witnesses and one anonymous tip that she has stolen a pearl necklace, a ruby ring, a Rolex watch, a diamond bracelet and a painting."
Miraculously, that was only five of my thirteen treasures.
"Why how could she do that? She's only fourteen." exclaimed Claire.
"Ma'am please step aside. We have a warrant." said the other sternly as he pulled out a document.
They pushed past her and into our three story apartment building full of screaming little kids of all ages. I pulled a floorboard underneath my bed and pulled out all of my stolen items. Sammy arose from the bed, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.
"What's going on?" he mumbled.
"We're leaving. Now!" I said firmly.
"But...why?"
"Do as I say! Now get ready."
The two men had reached the second flight of stairs.
"Who are the people walking towards our room?"
"People who are going to take us away."
"Are you in trouble?" he asked as he reluctantly got out of bed and grabbed his blanket. I thrust open the window and climbed onto the fire escape. Sammy followed. We were halfway down when we heard our door swing open.
"Sammy! Let go!" I ordered.
He let go of the ladder he was on and I caught him with my telekinesis. We rose into the air and quickly hid behind a tall metal air conditioning box on top of the apartment building. The two men climbed out our window and down the fire escape.
"Fools." I commented.
"Not all of us." responded someone from behind.
Our heads spun around simultaneously to see a tall man in his twenties holding what looked like a long metal tube. He had a spiky mohawk and a black trench coat. There was a cigar in his mouth and his eyes were covered by his dark tinted sunglasses. Before I could recall anything else that had happened, my mind finally shut down and I fell asleep.
