Hello guys, I'm dedicating this chapter to CharChar485 who was the first one who commented and said I should continue this series. I think it's still crap but I'm dedicating this to her. 🤗

I know no one wants to hear me ramble on and on anymore so let's go to the actual story!

Marinette's PoV:

The room was lavishly decorated with bright sparkly chandeliers, amazing artworks, the plushest dinning furniture and the food looked marvellous as well. There was a lavish red carpet  flowing down the centre of the room which lead to the grand stage. I was so used to these celebrations, I didn't even bat an eye. I walked down the carpet, ignoring my throbbing head, dying feet  and the sleepiness that was always there in the mornings to met my father on the stage. Strangers' faces looked up at me, drinking me in. A shiver ran down my spine. No matter how often I went to these parties, I knew I would never like this part when I was the centre of attention. My fathers arm wrapped around my shoulders, and pulled me in close, as he knew I never liked these things. He, unlike me, loved the spotlight but tried to comfort me however possible in these situations.

"I, King Dupain, am proud to present to you my fabulous daughter, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, on her 18th birthday! I know she will grow up to be a fine young woman!" my father boomed in his loud, deep voice. Everyone clapped politely, and he continued on. "Marinette will do us proud....."That's when I started zoning out. Speeches like this always took forever, so I lost myself in the creating of new designs in my head. But I was wrenched out of my daydreams when I heard the next few words. ".....and King Agreste has also agreed that Princess Marinette should marry his son, Prince Adrien, for mutual benefits-"

"WHAT THE HELL?!" I shrieked. "I ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT TOLERATE BEING MARRIED TO PRINCE WHATEVER-HIS-NAME-WAS FOR STUPID BENEFITS!" I wrenched myself away from my father's enveloping arms, feeling suffocated now instead of reassured. I looked into my father's sad brown eyes, channeling all of my hurt and anger through my eyes and into his. Then, I ran. I turned on my heel and fled the hall, ignoring the desperate shouts and pleas echoing behind me. I kicked off my stupid heels and ran, barefoot, through the maze of corridors. After what seemed like forever, I burst through the front doors and into the huge garden. I was barely panting, from all the excercise I do behind my bedroom doors, so I kept running like my life depended on it. Well, it technically did. Finally, I ran out of my castle's estate and into the unknown world.

I've only been outside a couple of times, but they had been the most exciting times of my life. I spent most of my time stuck inside the castle walls, so what do you expect? Commoners wandered around, not paying attention to me, which was a relief since I did look quite weird, and did what they were supposed to do. I was in the middle of a shopping district, with basically everything you would need right here. Sneakily, I stole a white, red and black dress with a yellow belt , brown boots, a necklace, white leggings, a leg sheath and a brown cap. In a back alleyway, I changed out of my fancy gown and into the more ordinary ones. I put my cap on, took my hair out, put it into a simple plait, and looked at the reflection of myself on a large broken piece of glass. I smirked; this is what made me feel most like myself over my whole life. The dress was a tiny bit too big around the waist and chest area but I didn't care. I knew enough about shopping and so I decided to sell my gown. It was very fancy, for commoner standards, so I walked over to a dress store and got the owner's attention. He was a wise looking guy, with grey hair as well as a grey moustache, and wore a Hawaiian T-shirt along with grey trousers.

"Hello Mister, is there any chance that I can sell this gown here?" I sweetly asked, laying on the charm. He looked up at me, and for a moment I was caught off guard. His eyes were a mysterious dark brown, and looked at me as if he knew more about me than even myself. "Of course young girl, this gown looks like it would be worth a fortune." He replied in a heavily Chinese accented voice.

"Why thank you Mister....?"

"Please call me Fu."

"Well, please call me Marinette."

I froze, hoping he didn't know about the country's princess.

"Here you go Marinette. I hope you have a good day!"

"You too!"

I relaxed. He obviously didn't. I took the rather large wad of money he gave me and went on my way. I bought food and water to keep me alive for a few days, as well as some more clothes to wear. Soldiers were already trying to find the 'runaway princess'. I even passed by a few, but they didn't take any notice of me. I snickered; they were so blind to see that the person that they were looking for was right under their noses. In a secluded street, as I was counting my remaining money, a black box with intricate red lines on top dropped out of the notes. Curious, I picked it up, and opened the lid. A bright flash of red blinded my vision. Throwing my hands up to cover my eyes, I waited for the light to die down before slowly removing my hands and cracking open my eyes, fraction by fraction. When my eyes had adjusted again, I saw.....

Sorry guys, I had to put in a cliffhanger, I'm quiet fond of those. I promise in the next chapter that there will be more action. I was basically killing myself to whether include Ladybug in this chapter or not. Until next time minous 😘
