"I'm sorry Angela, but to test out my control, I need to do this myself." Charles said in his phone. "Yes, yes, I understand. I'll be careful. Give my love to the team." He said ending the call. He loved Angela dearly, but boy can she be a protective person. If he wasn't dating her, he'd call her 'Mom' from the way she treats him.
'She cares for you deeply Williams, but I too am curious about what you can do.' The Rider spoke. Charles chuckled lightly as he placed his phone in his bookbag. He closed his eyes and concentrated before igniting into his Rider form. He looked at his bone hands as they caught fire. He breathed in then exhaled as the Hellfire in him swirled.
He lifted a hand and aimed at a rock before firing a ball of fire. "Whoa!" He yelped in surprise. 'Oh whoopie, you can create balls of fire.' The Rider said sarcastically. Charles rolled his eyes, or rolled his eyeholes, and looked around.
"Hmm, maybe with more training, we might be able to use this form in the sunlight." Charles said. 'Perhaps, but for now, we need to stay in the darkness. It's almost sunlight.' The Rider replied. Charles looked to the east to see the sun start to shine. The beam hit his skull as the fire died and flesh started to mend until his skin and hair were left. Charles grabbed his backpack and started to walk towards a small town.
'Now what? We can't really train now.' The Rider asked. "Well, how about relaxing for the day?" Charles asked. 'I care little for 'relaxing', bother me when something comes up.' The Rider said before going quiet. Charles rolled his eyes and walked into the hotel. The woman at the desk looked up from her computer and smiled at him.
"Room for one please." Charles asked pulling out his wallet. "That'll be 75$ sir." The woman replied. He pulled out the required money and she gave him his key. He nodded before grabbing his key and walking to his room. He unlocked the door and walked in as he tossed his bag on the chair and flopped on the bed. He sunk in the soft mattress and stared at the ceiling before a knock was heard on his door. He groaned before getting up and looking through the peephole to see Lena looking through the glass.
"Hello? Charlie! Open up luv." She said poking the glass. Charles opened the door with a deadpan expression. "Hello luv, heard you were in the neighborhood and I thought I should pop in for a tick." She said as he let her in.
"What have I told you about stalking me?" Charles asked raising an eyebrow. "Me? Stalk you? I'd never lu-" She was cut off by Charles holding up a hand.
"King's Row, December of 2059. I brought a date to show her the sights, had to stop when someone was caught blinking." He said as he crossed his arms. She grinned at him sheepishly at him and circled her foot on the rug. He sighed and sat on the bed.
"So, what is you truly came here for aunt Lena?" He asked. "Hmm, 'aunt' haven't heard that in a while." She said sitting next to him. "Well, I guess I almost forgot it." Charles replied with a smile. Lena looked at him before grabbing his head and giving him a noogie.
"Alright, alright, uncle." He squeaked out struggling against Lena's firm grasp. She released him and giggled.
"Don't forget it, man, I miss taking care you. Both of you, you two were little cutie pies!" Lena squealed as she grabbed Charles's cheeks and pinched them.
"Aunt Lena, stop it." Charles said. The Rider hissed with laughter. "Oh shut it bone head." He grumbled. Lena raised an eyebrow at him.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you. I managed to get on some even grounding with the Rider. He has allowed me to use his form and powers without him possessing me." He said with a smile. It took Lena a minute to process this information before her eyes widen at the realization.
