As the ship landed in the hangar of the HQ, the agent disembarked as Charles and Jennie stood looking at the finished building.
"The repairs are going good Commander, just a few more weeks and the base will be good as new." A man said.
"Very good, but the command center is at least up and running?" Charles asked. "Aye Commander." He said.
"Good, get some rest, you and your workers." Charles said. The builder nodded as he left. "Feels like yesterday we were here." Jennie said with a smile.
"Yeah, it truly does." He replied. "He would be proud of the man you've become Charlie." Julie said patting his shoulder.
"I know mom, I just wish he was still here to see Overwatch reformed." Charles replied as a frown replaced his smile.
"C'mon Commander, let's see how the building is." Aaron said slapping his back as he dragged Charles towards the HQ. Julie and David watched as the two walked to the building and enetered.
"He sure has grown in the last years. I'm kinda sad that I didn't get to spend more time with him." David said frowning.
"Then, let us rejoice that we can see our grown son here and now." Julie said kissing him before placing her head on his shoulder.
"Still the beautiful woman as before." He said as they walked after Charles and Aaron. 'Perhaps, even Gabriel will return.' David thought.
"Aaron release Charlie now!" Angela demanded. "Why would I do that? He is an annoying brother that needs to be put in his place!" Aaron retorted with a grin. Julie and David watched as Aaron held him in a headlock, Lena giggling as Angela berated the weaponsmith. Charles smiled sheepishly as Aaron laughed heartedly. Julie heard a crackle of lightning as she felt a drop of water on her face.
"Oh?" She said looking up as another droplet fell on her forehead. "Alright boys, time to head in. Sorry Commander, we'll have to finish later. Seems like a storms brewing." The worker apologized.
"You're fine, let's just head in for now. Everyone, inside now!" Charles shouted. The agents and workers ran into the building as rain began to pour on the pavilion of the base. Charles kept the door open as everyone ran in, some laughing while others grumbled. Charles walked in, covered in rain, looked at the rest of the agents as they conversed. Angela walked over and smiled at him.
"C'mon Commander, let's get you out of those cold clothes and into warm ones." She said. As they walked down the hallway, they headed to their room.
"So glad they rebuilt the rooms. Come, I know where mine is." She said pulling him along. Reaching her room, she opened it to reveal a regular room that had a queen-sized bed, bathroom, dressers, and a closet. She walked over and opened the closet to reveal clothes for hers and Charles.
"Here, change out of those and put these on." She ordered pushing him into the bathroom. "Yes mom." He said teasingly.
"You better believe I'm your 'mom'." She said winking at him, causing a deep red to engulf his face. She walked over and pecked his cheek as she walked to the door.
"Now go clean up leader, the others will be waiting for you in the command center." She said as she walked out of the room and left. Charles smiled before a column of fire appeared.
"Don't get distracted, Talon is still out there." The Rider said. "Yeah, yeah. Anyways, could ya disappear maybe? I need to change and talk to the troops." Charles said. The Rider scoffed before disappearing. Charles stripped himself of his damp clothes and dried himself with a towel.
'Who thought I would become the new leader.' He thought as he placed his clean clothes on. He sighed as he exited his room and left for the command center. As he entered, he noticed the agents talking with each other, some even relaxing. His troops, no, his family was back.
