It was a regular day for Charles. Wake up, shower, put on combat clothes and prepare for whatever mission 76 was going to handout today. Charles cracked an eye open to see Angela missing from the bed.
'Eh, must be already up. Better do the same.' He thought as he hoisted himself off the soft mattress. He rubbed his eyes and blinked to see a spare of clothes on the bed for him and a note.
"Charlie, no missions today. Love Angi." The note read. Charles placed the note on the nightstand and walked into the shower. He tested the water as it warmed to his liking. Once satisfied, he stripped of his clothes and climbed in as the warm water cascaded down his tired body. After washing himself thoroughly, he exited the shower and dried himself off as he placed the clothes Angela had laid out for him on. After stretching and cracking his shoulders, he exited to see agents rushing back and forth. Confused, he made his way to the kitchen to see Angela, Mei, Reinhardt, Ana, 76, and Hanzo. Angela was the first to notice Charles.
"Good morning liebes." She said shining her bright smile. Charles smiled back and raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"What is this?" He asked looking at all the pots and pan. A turkey was being readied by Reinhardt and Ana.
"Why, it's Thanksgiving of course. No missions today, just a day to eat with friends and family." She replied. Hanzo was peeling potatoes along with Mei. 76 was peeling corn cobs.
"Any help?" He asked not wanting to be lazy. "Ah yes, we seemed to have run out of cranberry sauce." She said. "Okay, I'll be back." He replied and walked off before Jennie stopped him.
"Where you going?" She asked. "Going to get cranberry sauce and maybe some other things for the Thanksgiving dinner." He replied. Jennie's eyes perked up.
"Oh boy, I have a feeling this is going to be a great Thanksgiving." Jennie said as she began to lick her lips. Charles chuckled lightly before walking to the hangar and starting his bike.
"What is this, Thanksgiving?" The Rider asked. "Thanksgiving is a day for friends and family to get together and spend the day together. Eat food and tell stories. It's also a day to be thankful." Charles explained as the sped off into town.
"Human customs still elude me." The Rider said before growing quiet. Charles laughed before The Rider berated him.
"Calm down bonehead, I'm just poking some fun." Charles said. "You've been hanging out with that Oxton girl. She is annoying." The Rider replied. Charles rolled his eyes before parking and shutting off his cycle. A couple of people walked by and complimented on his bike.
"Thank you, have a nice Thanksgiving folks." Charles said waving goodbye. He entered the store and walked until he arrived at the necessary aisle. Luckily, there was a few cranberry jars left. He quickly snatched 4 before it was ransacked by the commute. He walked around until finding the dessert aisle and picking up 3 pumpkin pies and a liter of cola. Satisfied with his pickings, he walked to a free checkout line and deposited his items. The conveyor belt rolled as his food arrived to the waiting cashier.
"Good morning sir, find what you needed?" The cashier asked. "Yes, thank you for asking. My, it's going to be hectic once Black Friday rolls around." Charles replied with a smile. The cashier groaned before laughing lightly.
"Do it for the paycheck." The cashier said. Charles chuckled as his food was begin bagged. "That'll be 31.49." The cashier said. Charles pulled out 40 dollars and handed it to the man.
"Keep the change." Charles said grabbing his food. "Happy Thanksgiving sir." The cashier said. "You too." Charles replied waving goodbye.
"Was you telling him to keep the change, being thankful?" The Rider asked. Charles walked to his bike and deposited his food in the compartment before closing it.
