Kabanata 24

Nang makarating ako sa nasabing resto ay tinapik ko ang soot kong sapatos pagkaraa'y nagmartsa papasok. Walang tao pagpasok ko. I laid my eyes at the four corner of the room. There was none. Dumako ang tingin ko sa isang hindi kalakihang pintuan.

Naglakad ako papalapit doon.
I slammed against the door.
The wastebasket crashed into the wall. The punny door shivered. Bahagya pa akong nagulat nang makita ko si nyxx habang nakasoot ng white suite at may hawak na wine sa kamay.

"Hey there. Nasagot mo ba yun? Or rage teach you?" He smiled pagkaraa'y ipinatong ang alak sa mesa. He wet his lips then summoned up a small smile.

"Why do you have to do that? And hey diba may sakit ka?" Nag aalalang tanong ko.

Hinawakan niya ang kanyang ulo at saka umiling.

"Sinabi ko lang yun para pumunta ka sa bahay. Susunduin sana kita pero may biglang tumawag." Sagot niya.

"Sino?" I asked. Namumutla siya ngayon. He looks very stressed.

"Nothing really important." Tinapunan niya ako ng matamis na ngiti. But it was not so genuine. Pakiramdam ko may mali. He interwined our fingers then kiss the back of my hand.

"Will you trust me this time baby please? Will you trust me?" I suddenly felt nervous.

"Noong sumigaw ka sa bahay kung nasaan ako, I was still there. That’s why I could be able to send my reply and then I came all along here. Those notes... I want you to keep it and since rage told me you only got five, I'll send those others to you. Got me?"

Nilagay niya ang mga iilang takas kong buhok saaking tenga.

"You sound like you'll be gone for a very long time." Tumawa ako.

"Yeah.. I would." Sagot niya. Silence followed at tila nahihihuna ko na kung anong patutunguhan nito.

"Just a week. May aasikasuhin lang ako sa ibang bansa." He forced a smile. Aasikasuhin? And what could that be?

"Ano naman ‘yun?" I eyed him.

His expression softened fractionally.

"Just a case. Lalabas ako ng bansa. May imemeet akong abogado."

Yumuko ako at itinoon ang paningin sa sahig. He will be gone for weeks? Aish! Bakit ba ako nag alala. It's just a span of few days. Time flies so fast kaya dapat hindi ako mag alala.

"You can go..." Tumingala ako at nginitian siya. Ginulo niya ang kanyang buhok at saka nakasimangot na umupo sa sofa.

"Problema mo ha?" Nakakunot noong tanong ko.

"I thought you will stop me from going. Pero ikaw pa itong nag eencourage saakin. May iba kana ba?" I smirked and cast a razzing glance at him.

"Its not like that! Bakit sa tingin mo ba makakahanap pa ako ng iba?" Sumilay muli ang ngiti sakanyang labi. Bahagya niyang hinapit ang bewang ko pagkaraa'y binigyan ako ng pinong halik sa noo.

Pagkatapos naming magusap ni Nyxx, Umuwi na ako ng bahay. It was the day that I found out that mom was dead. Iyon din ang araw na lugmok na lugmok ako.

Pumunta ako ng hospital para makita siya. I ran up to and hugged her.

Parang nagflashback lahat saakin ang mga nangyari. I remember when I was young, my mom would talk about my lovelife. And back then, I found it very weird and made fun of every chance I got. But that didn’t mean I didn’t listen. She used to wish I'd meet a guy who was intelligent and full of life.
