Chapter 10 ✓

I walked in the college grounds just thinking over the new turns my life was taking just about everyday.

I was wearing blue shorts that went well with my white T shirt. My hair were tied in a bun. I actually had developed an aura of richness. Not that I went to school and college in tattered clothes before but you could sense money when you see it.

Slowly, I made my way to the building, where I was met with Shenili.

"Hey D." She was wearing her usual shorts and a blouse, a shocking pink bag was slung over her shoulder.

"Hey, Shen."

"What's up?" she asked whilst chewing her gum.

"Nothing much. My Geography is about to start in like..." I checked the watch. "...thirty seconds." I said calmly.

After counter thinking about my words I screamed "THIRTY SECONDS!"

That got me running like a lunatic all the way to the classroom. Thank heavens, I finally now knew where the classroom was or Mr Brandon would have skinned my alive for being extra late.

I reached the door with heavy breathing.

Mr Brandon allowed me entry, for I had reached just a second earlier before the bell rang, but of course not before giving me a glare. I made my way to my seat, threw my bag on the floor and got settled.

Unconsciously, I moved my hand over my hair just to realize that my bun was in ruins.

I internally groaned.

After setting my hair in a high pony tail, I saw Mr Brandon glaring at me for the second time in the day, "Now if you're done with your hair, shall we start?"

"Uh sure."

Would never let go of a chance of humiliating me.

Mr Brandon started speaking and I tuned him out and glanced at the board where topic for today was written.

"REVOLUTIONS' EFFECT ON GEOGRAPHY"

Weird.

Guess I should really listen to what this is all about. After all, I have to write something in exams even though failing doesn't affect my future now.

"...topic. All of us have a vivid idea that the borders of countries have been changing throughout the ages, even when we had no specific term for them, even when the world just had a few nations, linguistic groups, or tribes of different kinds. Things have been changing ever since the beginning of time; during the medieval ages and even now. They always do. They are bound to. Same goes for our countries. Especially for the last five centuries, things have been changing drastically. One of the big reasons for it are the social constraints."

He paused for a while before saying,

"Before taking a formal start of the lecture, I'd like you to tell me about all the revolutionary examples that you can think of that have altered countries and their boundaries, due to which we now we have our current world map."

Susan raised her hand.

"Yes, Susan."

"Sir, I think it was the Roman Empire. You see they were very strong in their culture and other stuff, you know, like education. So they had like been a great start for the changes."

Why does she even raise her hand when she is never sure about anything. 'Like. You see. You know.'

"Sir, her point might be totally right but I don't think that Roman Empire's rise actually had any effect on the borders of the countries. Roman Empire had eventually started to deteriorate. From the attacks of barbarian tribes of North and West Europe and the rise of Christianity, Romans hadn't stood a chance," I was surprised to hear myself say all this.
