Chapter 16

LEIGH-ANNE RUSHED TOWARDS a very fragile, a very limp and a very delicate looking Jade Thirlwall, with a dead body underneath her.

"Jade?" Leigh-Anne called out softly.

Jade jumped, before realising it was only Leigh-Anne and raised her head. Leigh-Anne gasped and almost choked when she realised the dead body was Sam's. She immediately sat down beside her best friend and pulled her into a loving hug, making sure Jade didn't touch her throbbing wound.

"What did they do to him?" Leigh-Anne whispered into Jade's ear.

But, before Jade had the chance to answer, they heard a muffled groan. Jade quickly shot out of Leigh-Anne's arms and put her full attention on Sam. He was moving. But, how? Jade was sure she read poison on the needle.

"Sam?" she softly whispered.

She got a grunt in reply and she threw her arms over him.

"Sam!" Jade shrieked, "You're alive! Oh my god, you're alive! But, how?"

"Jade," Sam managed to choke out, "The antidote. I need the antidote. There's only twenty four hours left."

Then, he feel back into his unconscious state. Jade stared at him for a few moments, before determinedly standing up with a frown across her beautiful features.

"Where are you going, Jade?" Leigh-Anne asked, standing up as well.

"We need to find the antidote," Jade nodded, before walking out of the door.

Well, almost walking out of the door. That is until Leigh-Anne pulled her back with a stern look on her face.

"No," she said firmly.

"No?" Jade spat, incredulously, "Leigh! Sam's life is on the line! We can't just leave him here! He'll die!"

"Jade, those guys are out to get us," Leigh-Anne hoarsely explained, "They want us dead by tonight! Zayn and I heard it with our own ears. We have to get out of here!"

"Leigh!" Jade screeched, "Don't you get it? Sam will die if we just leave him!"

"So will we if we stay," Leigh-Anne reasoned before tugging the light brunette's arm to an exit door, "Now, let's go."

Jade snatched her arm out of Leigh-Anne's grasp, "No, Leigh. You're like my sister, you know that. But, I can't just walk out here like everything's fine and dandy!"

"What? Just-"

"Leigh-Anne!" Jade shrieked, finally shutting the bronze skinned girl up, "Imagine your conscience after this! You'll always have that feeling that you let someone die out of your own greed of keeping yourself safe. Do you want that?"

Leigh-Anne kept quiet, honestly shocked by Jade's sudden outburst of words. Pretty deep words at that. She stared at the worried look etched on the light brown eyed girl's face and knew what was the right thing to do.

"We have to be quick, okay?" Leigh-Anne rushed to say, "I know where the main office is. That place should be where the antidote is kept."

Jade smiled and then hugged the black haired girl before her tightly, "Thank you."

"Let's go!" Leigh-Anne pulled away, smiling at her friend.

They sneaked out of the room, looking around for the guards that might've still been there. Luckily, they were still after Zayn, so there were none in sight. They walked across the hallway, Leigh-Anne finally deciding to just take off her heels instead of trying to be quiet, reasoning with herself that she'd be much quicker.
