18. Tryhard

The week was dragging on, and Venus was slowly returning back to normal. By the time work came on Saturday she was fine and ready to go.

She arrived and got her photography schedule, and after reviewing it, she was grateful C9 wasn't on the list for the weekend.

She smiled to herself as she wandered around the building, looking for cute fans to take pictures of.

"Hey!" She heard from behind her, as she was walking down the cement towards the line of fans.

She turned around to be face with an EnVy player she didn't know the name of.

"Hi?"

"Aren't you the girl dating Bunny?"

Her heart dropped.

"I was that girl, until 4 days ago." She sighed.

"Oh, sorry, didn't mean to upset you." He scratched the back of his neck. "My name's Ben, but you can call me LOD."

The name clicked in her head.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Venus, but everyone calls me Vee."

LOD smiled and shook her hand.

"Are you doing photographs for us today?" He asked.

"Yeah, today and tomorrow." She smiled.

"Sweet! So I'll see you around then?"

"Of course." She gave him a small smile.

"Awesome, talk to you soon then." He reached for her hand, this time slipping a folded up sticky note into it.

She laughed and waited for the boy to head back inside before opening up the sticky note. Written on it was his Skype and phone number.

Man this kid is ballsy. She thought to herself, laughing at how skittish he seemed.

She folded the note back up and put it in her pocket before deciding to head back to the team room and start her pictures for the day.

EnVy's game was getting ready to start and LOD couldn't stop staring at Vee. Of course she had noticed, but she wasn't about to say anything, she thought it was kind of amusing.

She made her way to the stage and stood in front of the boys as they were setting up their gear. She had managed to get a few good pictures from the side, and good profiles of each of the boys so far.

Towards the middle of the game, when not much was happening, she decided to go through her photos, and saw that she had taken one of LOD winking at her.

Venus found herself laughing again, amused at how hard he was trying to get her to notice him.

She remembered the note in her pocket and made a mental reminder to at least give the kid a chance.

Made a friend last week after hitting a deer. Life's okay I guess
