Pulling into the driveway we notice two patrol cars are already there. I step out of the car, and am met by the officer we followed over.
"Ma'am, if you could follow me. Watch your step."
I follow behind him, Colton and Kane on our heels. The officer leads us into the backyard, where we see the sliding glass door has been broken. The officer turns to me,
"This is how they got in, Miss. Gibbons. We have already cleared the house, no one is here. We just need to do a walk through to see if anything is out of place."
I nod, and follow him inside. As we walk through the house, I notice everything that can be broken is broken. The kitchen table and chairs, all the dishes that were in the cabinets are shattered all over the floor. In the living room the coffee tables are broken into pieces, and the couch has slashes all through it, stuffing falling out everywhere. Every piece of furniture is destroyed, either broken or cut up. I am in shock, why would anyone do this? Nothing seems like it's missing, just broken.
"Do you notice anything out of the ordinary?" The officer asks.
"I don't see anything missing, but I can assure you nothing was damaged before." I snap at him.
"I'm sorry, Ma'am, I know this must be hard for you."
"Is there anything else I need to see?"
"Yes, Ma'am, I'm afraid the worst is upstairs."
"It gets worse than this?"
"Follow me." He says as he makes his way towards the steps.
Colton wraps his arm around me as we make our way up the stairs. I can tell he is on the edge of losing his cool. I think I have already lost it, I just don't know what to do or expect once we see what the officer is talking about. He leads us past my bedroom, having us look into the other two rooms and the bathroom first. It's the same as downstairs, everything is destroyed. The dressers and nightstands have been busted up, and the beds have been sliced apart. Turning to us, the officer says,
"I think one of you gentlemen should go into the last bedroom first. I don't know if the lady needs to go in there."
I look around at them all, confused and aggravated. What is in there I shouldn't see? I push through them opening the door I make my way inside the room. Once inside I notice red paint on the walls, the paint spells out 'Jade its not over!' I shriek, and immediately cover my mouth with my hands. I continue to look around them room. Scattered on the floor are about fifty pictures, every one of them is of me and Colton. All the furniture is destroyed in here too. I make my way to the bathroom, there is more red paint on the mirror. It says 'You will be sorry.' I turn back into the bedroom, where Colton, Kane and two officers are staring at me. The officers look worried, Kane looks angry, but Colton looks as if he is about to cry.
"What else do you need from me?" I ask.
"Any idea who may have done this?"
"Only one, but he is in jail awaiting trial."
"Yes, Mr. Sutton. I was one of the arresting officers, we already checked into him, he is still in jail."
I shake my head, "Then I have no other idea's."
"Okay, we need you to give a statement about what has been damaged."
"Let's get it over with."
We make our way downstairs, into the kitchen where I fill out the statement on the counter. It's the only flat surface left, and the tables were broken. I hand the paper to the officer, and reach into my purse to grab my camera.
"I want to take some pictures, is that okay?"
"Yes, Ma'am, whatever you would like."
I walk back through the house taking pictures of everything, especially the pictures of me on the floor. Once I'm satisfied that I have pictures of absolutely everything I meet up with everyone in the back yard. One of the officers walks up to me,
"Ma'am, we have finished dusting for fingerprints we are going to take the pictures on the floor into evidence. Maybe we can find some prints on them. We are all set here."
"You're leaving now?"
He nods at me. "So, what now?" I ask.
"You may go home now, and we have gathered all evidence, so you can begin cleaning up whenever you are comfortable doing so."
"Good, I'm going home now."
"Call me if you think of anything that can help, or if you need anything at all." He says handing me his card.
"Thank you."
I head to the car, so entranced by my thoughts I don't even realize that Colton and Kane aren't behind me until I reach the car. I look back towards the house and see Colton on the phone pacing on the front porch, Kane is talking with an officer. I climb into the backseat of the car, and before I know it I'm crying hysterically. I let the tears roll freely down my face, I am so confused. I have no idea who would leave those messages or trash my house. Other than Trevor I can't think of anyone who would want to scare or hurt me. The tears stop, and I calm myself down. Glad to be able to compose myself before any one saw my breakdown. I sit there in silence for a few seconds longer, when the doors open. Kane gets into the driver seat as Colton slides into the backseat next to me.
"Who were you talking to?" I ask Colton.
"Frank Kurland, I wanted to be sure he knew what was going on. He is going to set up a meeting with Trevor to see if he can get any information out of him about this."
"I want to talk to him."
"Of course, he is your lawyer, we can call him in the morning."
We make it to the house, and start up the steps.
"No, I want to talk to Trevor."
Colton and Kane both stop short of the door, they turn to look at me. They each look at me with confusion and disbelief.
"Why would you want to talk to him?" Colton practically yells.
"I know he had something to do with this, and I want to know why. He won't tell anyone else, but he thinks I'm weak and powerless. He will tell me."
"I really don't think that's a good idea." Kane responds.
"I'm not asking permission, from either of you. I'll call Frank in the morning, he can set it up."
I walk inside, straight upstairs. In the bedroom I strip down and crawl into bed. It has been a long day, and all I want to do is sleep. I lay there staring at the ceiling for what seems like hours. Colton still hasn't come into the room, I hear muffled voices and know he's talking to Kane.
