In the car I hear my phone going off in my purse,
"Hello?"
"Hey, did you miss me?"
"Morgan! Of course I missed you!"
"Our flight got in early, so we took a cab."
"Okay, cool. I'll head to your place now."
"Umm...actually we promised Colton we would see him tonight, so we are headed to his house."
"Oh, okay." I say, trying not to give away that we are together.
"You're not mad, are you?"
"No, not at all. He is your brother in law." I laugh.
"Thanks, Jade. I will call you first thing in the morning."
"Okay, have fun. I'll talk to you tomorrow."
I hang up, and look over at Colton.
"What did you do?"
"Excuse me? What did I do?"
"That was Morgan, she and Cole took a cab from the airport to your house. Why?"
"I don't know, maybe they missed me."
"She said Cole promised to see you tonight. Why didn't you tell me?"
"Are you mad at me for something?"
"No, I'm just confused why my best friend would blow off seeing me to hang out with you."
"I'm sure it's not like that. Plus, if they are at my house then they are at your house, remember?"
"Yeah, but they don't know that."
"Well, I suggest we go home and figure out what's going on."
"I'm not mad at you, I'm sorry, I'm just a little hurt."
"I'm sorry too, baby. I don't want you to be hurt, that's why we should go home so we can figure this out."
I spend the rest of the car ride home staring out the window. Why wouldn't Morgan want to see me? I know she was on her honeymoon, but now that she's back, didn't she want to see her best friend? Out of the corner of my eye, I see Colton glancing over at me every so often. He looks worried, then suddenly is seems like he has realized something. His face lights up,
"Now I remember why they are coming over! Today is Kane's birthday, we all talked about getting together for a small party for him."
"Oh crap, I forgot! I told him I would meet up with him later tonight."
"Well, seeing how we are on our way to his party, I'm guessing you will see him. Did you have time to pick up something for him, or do you want to stop at a store?"
"No, I have his gift in my purse. Did you get him something?"
"Yes, I bought him a car. So he can quit wasting money on cabs, and bugging everyone for rides." He laughs, "What did you get him?"
"I...umm...I'm giving him my house."
"What? Really? I thought you love that house?"
"I did, but ever since the break in. I don't like being there alone, so I don't think I could ever live there again. Plus, I have another house, remember?" I laugh.
"Yes, you do. I know he really likes your place, he has told me he loves staying there."
"Good, then he would love to own it. I had all the paperwork done, technically it's been his house for the last three weeks. I was just waiting for his birthday to tell him."
