"Baby, wake up."
I awake to Colton's voice and him gently shaking my arm.
"What's wrong?" I ask still groggy.
"I was going to let you sleep longer, but your phone started going off."
I sit up in bed as he hands me my phone, it says I have four unread text messages. They're all from Jax.
-I need to talk to you
-Jade, please text me back
-Lydia and I broke up. I could really use a shoulder right now
-I know it's early, but I really need you to come over
-Please?
I quickly type a message back.
-Sorry, I just woke up. I can be there in 20 mins.
Almost immediately, I get a response.
Jax - I would really appreciate it, I need someone to talk to
Me - Ok, getting dressed now. See you in 20
I hop out of bed and rush to the closet to get dressed.
"Is everything okay?" Colton asks, worried.
"Jax text me asking me to come over, he said Lydia broke up with him and he wants someone to talk to. I'm going over there now."
"Do you want me to come with you?"
"No, it's fine. He wouldn't want another guy there when he is so upset."
"So you're not going to take security with you?"
"I'll take my birthday present, will that make you feel better?"
"Yes, actually it would. Be careful."
"I will, though I don't know how much trouble I can get into comforting my own brother."
I walk out of the closet, back into the bedroom and see the worried look on Colton's face. I lightly pull his chin up to look me in the eye.
"I promise I will be careful. I will call you when I get there."
"Thank you. I love you."
"I love you too."
I knock on the door for a few minutes and Jax doesn't answer, I'm pretty sure I heard movement inside. I turn the knob, it's unlocked so I let myself in. Before I'm all the way through the door, I'm pushed hard from behind. I roll over to see who pushed me, Trevor is standing above me smiling a devilish grin.
"You're supposed to be in jail." I exclaim.
"Out on bail, darling."
"What? I don't understand."
"It's simple. I told you if you weren't with Colton, I would leave you alone. Then I find out you're engaged, so now I'm out to make you pay. Just like I said I would."
"Who bailed you out?"
"Does it matter?"
What the hell is going on? Trevor has a small line of blood dripping from the corner of his mouth, a few bruises and a definite black eye.
"Where is Jax?" I ask.
"You're right, I should show you where her brother is."
He bends down to take me by the arm, but I stand on my own first.
