"I believe the universe wants to be noticed. I think the universe is improbably biased toward the consciousness, that it rewards intelligence in part because the universe enjoys its elegance being observed." -John Green

I lay on my bed soundless. My music was playing but I could hardly take it.

Was Stan actually convinced I cut...?

I'd pretty much been like this all day, lifelessly lying on my bed listening as the rain fell. I'd gone down stairs twice to eat and that was about all. Stan had told me dad and El were coming home and all that did was make me feel sick.

I groaned as I heard the door open. Stan had come in once every hour to check on me.

"I'm fi-" I stopped dead as I looked to the door. Dad was standing there looking at me as he closed the bedroom door.

I'd gotten in trouble enough to know that when dad shut a door it was usually 'cause he knew he'd end up yelling at me.

"Wanna talk to me love?" He asked softly. "'Cause I'd like to hear about what happened last night."

"Go away..." I muttered, turning to face the other wall.

"No. You're gonna talk about what happened last night."

"No I'm not."

"Yes you are! Stan called me last night saying he saw you with a bleeding wrist and when I asked to speak to you he said you were crying your eyes out and wouldn't talk! How do you think I'm feeling over here Tellie? You're gonna bloody talk so start now."

"I don't want to talk about it..." I mumbled. "Nothing happened anyway..."

"Don't lie to me young lady."

"I dropped a glass! That's all."

Dad scowled. "Am I supposed to believe that?"

"It's what happened." I shot back as I sat up.

"Is it really?" Dad hissed as thunder crashed outside. "Isn't it a little to coincidental that you got cut on your wrist?"

"Wouldn't you rather it was an accident?"

"I'd rather nothing ever happened."

"Accidents happen." I argued. "I'm around isn't that enough proof?"

"But this doesn't look like an accident Cristell. It looks like you tried to fucking cut."

"I didn't-"

"Bullshit!" Dad cut in. "I've watched you smash stuff to try cut with it!"

"You weren't even here." I hissed.

"Exactly, I wasn't here. Perfect opportunity for you wasn't it?"

"It was an accident."

"Well I don't believe that! After all of the crap you've pulled in the past months I don't think this was an accident."

"It was-"

"Shut the hell up Cristell! Don't act like you didn't do anything and fucking admit it!"

"I didn't do anything!"

"Didn't I make myself clear before?"

"Get out of my room."

"This is my house Tellie."

"So?"

"So I'll be in your room when I want to be in your room. This is my fucking house so don't you dare tell me to get out!"
