"When I was a little girl I used to read fairy tales. In fairy tales you meet Prince Charming and he's everything you ever wanted. In fairy tales the bad guy is very easy to spot. The bad guy is always wearing a black cape so you always know who he is. Then you grow up and you realize that Prince Charming is not as easy to find as you thought. You realize the bad guy is not wearing a black cape and he's not easy to spot; he's really funny, and he makes you laugh, and he has perfect hair."-Taylor Swift
Time is a tricky thing. Sometimes hours pass and it feels like seconds. Sometimes seconds pass and it feels like hours. But in the end you'll end up in the same place you started. Home. It's not like I wanted time to pass, it's that I just wanted Darian to talk about something that would actually interest me. I didn't see the point in anything she was telling me. I really couldn't give a damn what great aunt Carissa wanted for her birthday. I had only met that bitch once, and she wasn't very pleasant...
"...I have no idea what type of cake it is though." Darian continued, I groaned earning a sharp look from Darian.
"What?" I asked. "I don't really care about what she does for her birthday..."
"She's your family," Darian replied. "Y-"
"No she's not." I cut in. "I met the women once and she picked at every flaw I have and told me my mother would've been ashamed to have me as a daughter."
"Well...she's old and lies." Darian beamed. "Your mother would be proud of you-"
"I hope not." I snapped. I was still confused on the whole thing. It all sounded like one of those stupid fan fictions someone would write. But if someone ever did make a fan fiction like that, I'd have to admit good creativity.
"Your mother loved you-"
"Did she really? I doubt she ever cared about me."
"She did."
"Yeah well if she did you'd think she'd spend child support money on me."
"Tellie, your mum loved you more than she loved herself. Everything she did was to make sure you were okay."
I scowled. "Why would you defend her? She practically killed herself but didn't die."
Darian stared at me for a second, neatly placing the tea cup in her hand on the coffee table.
"She's my sister." Darian said bluntly. "No matter what she did, dead or alive. She's my sister. And I'll forever love her."
"Well I won't." I muttered. "I wish she was alive just so I could tell her I hate her..."
"Have you told you father that?"
"Yep."
"And he was alright with you saying that?" Darian paused. "He would be wouldn't he... He said a couple of similar things about your mum... You know I don't think he told everything you should know."
Now it was my turn to my tea cup down. I stared at Darian in confusion. Not for a second had I thought dad had lied about what he said to me. But now that I thought about it, it made sense. He lied the first time why wouldn't he lie to me again?
"He did." I said bluntly. "He told me everything."
"You don't sound so confident with that." Darian commented. "Did he tell you about the letters?"
"The what?"
"I guess he didn't."
"What letters?"
"Ask him-crap I need to take you to therapy. I'll go get Ryder then I'll take you, what time do I pick you up?"
"Four." I muttered as Darian rose from the lounge. "But isn't dad picking me up? He said recording should be over by then."
