"Time passes. Even when it seems impossible. Even when each tick of the second hand aches like the pulse of blood behind a bruise. It passes unevenly, in strange lurches and dragging lulls, but pass it does. Even for me." -Stephanie Meyer

There's something weird about waking up on Friday morning and not getting ready for school. Usually around about now I'd be shoving books in my bag and tying my neon green shoelaces just to have them come undone again. But instead I was sitting in the kitchen waiting for El or dad to come downstairs.

I kept my eyes on the doorway of the kitchen, watching the staircase carefully. I continued shoveling cereal in my mouth, only stopping when I saw El walking downstairs.

"El..." I said as I got to my feet. She looked towards me, pursing her lips as I leaned against the railing off the staircase.

"I have to go to work Tellie." El replied tartly. She grabbed her handbag before rummaging through the chest of draws.

"I'm sorry I said what I said last night..." I mumbled. "It was insensitive and I shouldn't have said it..."

"Are those your word or your dads?"

"Mine. I haven't spoken to my dad at all since last night... I really am sorry, I was annoyed and it just sorta came out..."

El sighed. "Well it doesn't matter. I got my results back and I'm not pregnant, and chances of me ever getting pregnant is one in a million. So everything's how you want. I have to go to work..."

I frowned, watching as El stalked to the front door. I didn't know really what I supposed to say her. What do you say to anyone who tells you their never gonna be able to have kids?

"I am sorry." I added. I stood next to the staircase, sighing as El left. Dammit.

"You knew didn't you." Dad hissed.

I snapped my head up, nervously chewing on my lip as dad came downstairs.

"Did you know?" He snapped.

"Know what?"

"That El got told she can't have kids. You knew."

"She told me at the wedding..."

"Is there a reason you didn't tell me?" Dad barked. "Why wouldn't you tell me that Tellie?"

"She asked me not to." I shrugged. "She said she was gonna tell you on your honeymoon but I guess she didn't..."

"No she told me last night. Why wouldn't you just tell me? E-"

"She asked me not to." I repeated. "It's the same as when you asked me not to tell her about the letter from Eidee, and that I snuck out."

"Yes well..." Dad muttered. "There's a difference-"

"The only difference is who's asking me to keep the secrets." I paused. "Zayn said you guys were recording again today."

"We are, but stop trying to change the subject-"

"Am I staying home alone then?"

"No. I already told you, you're going to help Chantelle pack stuff. I assume you already know her and Niall are moving. Now why didn't you-"

"Corey told me. Does this mean Chantelle knows I got suspended?"

"Yes."

I bit my lip. "Can I just say I wouldn't have gotten suspended if Eidee wasn't such a bitch."

"Doesn't change anything Tells." Dad replied. "Wish it did but it doesn't. So I'm gonna eat, then we'll get going."

I nodded. "Dad, how pissed is El...? At me..."
