* John’s POV *
The lawyer that was responsible for discussing the will and testament of the Hughes and Conners came in at 8AM sharp at the mansion today. To be honest, I’m not even sure why I was invited, but well they all were accommodating, even though I was the main reason for what had happened the last time we were all together.
It’s not like I had a choice, but I couldn’t let Lenny or any of my family members down. I just had to choose Harley, whether I like it or not. It was the only choice I could make.
“Shall we start?” The man uttered as Blade led us to a conference room, I didn’t even know they had and I’ve been here loads of times. How can I miss this room when it’s larger than my bedroom, and they had a huge projector in front?
“Is everyone here?” He asked as Blade nodded.
We all sat down in one long table, the lawyer being in front center. Beside him were the Conners, and beside them were the Hughes. We all waited as the Smith guy took out countless of papers.
“We’ll start with the Conners first.” He announced as everyone bobbed their heads, perhaps having to go over the Conners were easier since they were just the two of them and it wasn’t complicated at all.
“It says here that all money and properties of Trent Conners should be equally divided between you two.” Smith guy uttered. “You can choose which of the properties you would want, and we could just sum up all the money and divide it between you two.”
Both the Conners nodded, though Blade was already ahead, choosing one of the properties. “I want the vacation house in America!” He exclaimed, as Slade gave way, which surprised all of us, knowing how Slade was before. “It was dad’s gift to my mother when they were still going out. I remember him telling me that, and that was the only thing that reminds me of her and makes me feel like I can be with her.”
“Sure, I wouldn’t even fight you off with that.” Slade agreed.
“Now that’s settled, we can move on to the Hughes?” Smith asked and the two gave a go signal. The girls had already woken up from that little nap they had.
I still didn’t know why I was here.
“Okay. The original document David Hughes had made states that all properties and money are equally divided to all his children – Jacob, Hope, Faith, Love, and Serenity Hughes.” He explained. “But seeing that heirs are not complete, I’m really sorry for your loss, the part of that person will be divided amongst the remaining heirs, supposedly.”
“But someone must have learned that I was responsible for the wills and testaments of your dads, they sent another document in. And when I’ve checked it, it has been certified.” He continued. “It feels like it was planned as the document was ready.”
Hearing that explanation made the tears flow down my cheeks, remembering that time again. It forever replayed in mind, even if I was awake, I just couldn’t forget about that horrible sight.
It even came to a point when I couldn’t look at Harley the same. I’ve became paranoid, thinking that the night wasn’t done. I had to come back home to my parent’s house because I freak out being alone at night. Especially when it was windy outside, and the trees were swaying side to side, making me think something bad will happen.
As I looked around, the horrifying scene stood in front of me. My body felt like jello, wanting to fall in the ground any minute. But I had to be strong for Harley who was hugging me tighter than before.
Blood gushed out everywhere and the previous tied up girl was now on the floor. It was as if everybody was welcomed in silence, frozen in stance as we all watched what was happening before us. That’s when it came to me that this was the finale.
