* John’s POV *

Slade, Blade, and some other guys and I have all gathered at the law office to meet up with some lawyers. Besides Smith, we also had an appointment with Cameron, the attorney that was handling all of Xander’s businesses. He has been working for my best friend since the time Xander had taken over his parents businesses, as well as, coming up with his own. Not only that, but we learned that when he was away with Carla, he was one of the people he had call for help.

Xander’s loyal assistant, Ella, was also present in the meeting as she had kept a copy of all the documents, just in case something had happened to the ones that we have submitted to the law firms.

“The court date is coming up.” Smith uttered as we all sat in a private conference room, gathering up all the data and talking about what’s coming ahead.

“We all know that Xander or Jacob Hughes had already helped us all for bringing Carla Evans-Conners to prison by providing all the information that we need, but we also need the Hughes help, especially Bailey.” Cameron explained.  “Please have her ready for that time. I know it would be hard for her, knowing that it took her time to get over Xander’s death, but we need her to confirm all the details Xander had provided.”

Slade nodded as I also bobbed my head, up and down, knowing full well that I would need to be there and support her throughout the whole deal. But never will I complain about it.

“Does she have to be in front of Carla? Can she stay in another room and get questioned through a camera?” Blade asked the lawyers.

“She doesn’t have to be in the same room as Carla. We could reserve a room where she could comfortably stay at while the proceedings are ongoing.” Smith told us and I was thankful that she didn’t have to face Carla again. I was scared that she’ll breakdown once again.

“Yes, and if you guys prefer, we could have all the Hughes in that room with their guards.” Smith added.

“That would be great.” I chimed in. Perhaps I could stay with Bailey the whole time as well, knowing how the girl could proper panic about being locked in one room with only bodyguards. Plus, I don’t think I can manage to be away from her, especially when I know that Carla and her crew are in the same building. Although now, cops were involved and pretty much they won’t magically get away from their sights.

“Actually, it has been instructed here that Slade Conners should stay in another room. Xander noted that it was best if Carla didn’t see him.” Cameron piped in as Slade questioned why. “No explanations, but Xander proposed you stay out of her sight.”

And instead of arguing, Slade nodded and kept quiet, letting his big brother take care of things. We continued on discussing what type of preparation we needed for the said date, and as protection, they had told me to stay with the Conners and Hughes the whole time before the trial.

We never know what could happen. Although, there was no chance that Carla could still have someone order another person to kill the Hughes, or anyone related to them. Xander was still around working on his unfinished business. I’m pretty sure he’ll give us a warning before anything happens. Or at least, scare them off from thinking about bad things towards us.

As soon as we all were done from that meeting, we all headed back to the mansion. Except for Ella as she needed to get back to work. The Wells family appointed her as manager for the bookstore and the café, seeing how much they approve of her work. They trust her like how Xander had treated her back then.

The moment we had parked our car in the huge driveway, we all marched to the front door with Jared and Levi pacing around the room like lunatics, stressing over some things which we didn’t have any idea.
