Chapter 19

* John’s POV *

Meeting up with Grace Hughes at Bailey’s parent’s special place was all a surprise. Even I had no idea that she was actually alive. All these times, we knew she has already gone to the other world so seeing her in flesh had gotten me like – was this another cockroach scene?

Then again, Bailey could also see her so I wasn’t dreaming at all, but was now more concerned of how Bailey’s feeling like. Up to now, it hasn’t sink in to her that she’s an heiress, and with it, she still gets surprised of every new thing that comes her way. If it were me, I would probably feel the same. Nevertheless, I’m so proud of how she’s getting stronger now, her confidence was slowly rising up, and unlike the first time I have met her.

As I was driving home, Bailey and Grace caught up with each other at the backseat while Xander sat on the front seat, giving me that assuring look and some teasing ones that as much as possible, I wanted to ignore. The fact that there’s one person in this car who had no idea’s Xander has returned as a ghost, I wanted to keep it that way.

It was just something that could be too much to process, and it’s not like I know what Grace would be like. What do you know? She might be scared of those things.

“Are you ladies hungry?” I asked so I would know if we needed to stop by a restaurant before going to the mansion. Grace and Bailey shook their heads at the same time and laughed.

“I’m still okay. I’m just really excited to see Faith.” Grace uttered as I looked through the mirror and my gaze landed on Bailey, who was looking at me with startled reaction. Turning to my side, Xander was mouthing that he didn’t inform her of Serenity and Love yet, only because the first time they talked, he had already flooded her with information, and bringing the other two might just kill her emotions.

Nodding, I gave Bailey an assurance that I’ll be here in case she needed some support, in terms of letting Grace know about Serenity and Love who has been found.

“About that…” Bailey trailed off as Grace had this panic written all over her face as if assuming something had just happened to Faith that she did not know of. “No, no, it’s not that.” But Bailey was too fast to react, already telling her that nothing’s happened to Faith and that she’s probably at home right now.

“So what was it then?” Grace asked, already calmed down.

“Faith’s not the only one you’ll meet.”

Grace nodded. “You live with Blade too, right?” She uttered, and left Slade off as well.

As I slightly turned towards Xander, I gave him an annoyed look as he got defensive, and started babbling about different reasons why, but I just drove off.

“Tell her to mention Serenity and Love first, and we can go over Slade when we arrived.” Xander uttered as I tried my hardest to remind him that Bailey could see and hear him as he laughed, slapping his head at how he could forget that.

Xander then moved to the center and got Bailey’s attention to talk about her sisters first as I started typing on my phone, slowing down the car for a few minutes.

“Why can’t she mention Slade?” I asked as Xander zipped his mouth close, but didn’t show Bailey that as he sat properly, getting all serious now, which got me worried. Xander was never serious towards me so I knew this could be some trouble.

Thirty minutes had passed and we finally had arrived at the mansion. Jared greeting us at the front door, welcoming us all in. But in the middle of being his jolly self, his mouth dropped seeing the lady we were with, and may have frozen to stance.
