* Bailey’s POV *

When I first learned that Xander was back, I definitely felt happy about it, although I knew, it wouldn’t be the same. He was here for an unfinished business, which I quote, ‘to help us get back into our normal happy selves’.

Then again, when were we normal?

We weren’t even complete before – all four Hughes sisters lived with different families and had different lives. For all we know, our parents had gone to heaven, but now, it seems that they were just hiding away.

Then, there’s Xander who was given away by mistake, all because her mother got heartbroken over my dad, who didn’t choose them over my mum. The root of all the issues we all had to pay for, all because of my dad’s mistake. As much as I don’t want to blame anyone, it’s hard to not take sides, especially if he was my father, but then again, if it weren’t for Xander, I wouldn’t even be alive right now.

If this was how Xander had in his mind, then I guess he would be here for a very long time. Ever since we all found out that dad was alive as well, things at home had gone from better to worse. Dad tried talking to everyone, but each family member had an opinion which clashes with another.

Blade moved out of the house as some of the guards came with him. He can’t be bothered living with his dad’s best friend after what happened to his dad. He did say, I quote, ‘I didn’t even think I’d see him alive again, and it only brings back memories of how my dad was loyal and yet, as if he had to sacrifice his life for him’, and I understood him. He had the same opinion like Xander.

I knew that being David Hughes’ daughter I have to at least be on his side and get mad at everyone turning against him, but I couldn’t find the reason to. They were right. I’ve lived with them since I found out I was a Hughes and they have been good to me, so it was unfair if I just jump on ride like nothing happened.

Faith, who everyone thought would be all too happy and bounce around the house for learning that her dad was still alive, left with Blade. The fact that she’d rather be with Blade surprised us all, but then again, I knew that she needed some time to think it over as well.

Serenity, being the girl with too many opinions, did have heaps of them, bombarding the couple as if she was some cannon as the questions and comments kept coming. She wasn’t that happy, especially when she told them about her accident, even if it has nothing to do with them, because she thinks it would have been avoided if she was a Hughes from the beginning. Technically, we all were, but it was just that they were given away as mum had lost me. She also told them all the things that happened. She was the one who relayed all my near-death experiences under Carla’s hands as well as how Xander or Jacob Hughes had saved my life.

Love, the peacemaker, wasn’t doing anything. She has been quiet the whole time as if someone had cut her tongue. Even Chase was scared of it because Love has always been the one trying to get us all together.

Just like dad, Slade was hated by most of the members of the family, especially now that even I was not talking to him whenever he tries to. Jared and Levi have always been by my side. It didn’t even matter if the two were tagged as the comedians of the group, but whenever Slade was around, they’d be on their feet, protecting me.

Mum tried talking to everyone. At least with her, it seems that she had been accepted the first time they met her so there wasn’t any problem at all. She even tried being the referee when Slade or dad tries to talk it out with the people.

 Now tell me again, was this the normal happy life Xander came back for? Because it sure doesn’t look like it is for me.
