Anna's POV

We soon settled down into our new life with Steve, Adam and Logan. I've bonded with Adam well since our first run together - we now go a couple of days a week, and he's promised to take me to his local gym.

Logan is nice and fun to be around - he's fifteen, going on sixteen so he's the closest in age to me, and he's a cool guy. Adam is sixteen going on seventeen so is the year above. And then Brett and Louis are in the year up from Adam, the final grade - they already had their eighteenth birthday in August, like me - they turned eighteen on August 1st, and I turned thirteen on August 24th - so we're kinda the older ones in our respective years. Even though I'm titch!

In terms of my life at school, its great - I'm firm friends with Summer, Jade, Kenzie and Sophia now. My brothers have left me alone, even Brett, although he glances at me at lunch. I am finally becoming a "normal" teenage girl - and I feel good - I'm eating three meals a day, I'm socialising and running. Never felt better!

We are in the middle of Fall right now, it's getting colder and darker. The only bad thing coming up is the anniversary of Dad's death which is looming closer and closer. The fourth year he's been gone is in exactly two weeks from now. I would really like to go visit his grave, but its back in our old hometown which is an hour away - and I don't even know whether Brett, Louis or mum would want too. They seem to have forgotten, especially mum - I can't - I saw him die - almost four years ago...I was nine. I still miss him everyday, I'm just so worried I'll forget him. Brett and Louis were fourteen, so they won't forget, but I was very young.

Right now its Saturday morning, after my first week of school (me, Brett and Louis started halfway through the first term) I'm just lazing in bed, reflecting about life and reading To Kill A Mocking Bird, by Harper Lee.

Someone knocks softly on my door, "come in," I reply.

"Hey, you okay?" Louis comes into my room and sits on my bed.

"Yeah," I sigh, "what's up?"

"Do you wanna go out for breakfast with me? We haven't done that in a while."

"Sure, just us two?" I ask hopefully.

"Yes, just us two," he smiles and kisses my forehead.

I sit up and wrap my arms around his neck, inhaling his scent, which makes me feel relaxed. I love him so much.

He engulfs his muscly arms around me, "you sure your alright?" He mumbles into my hair.

"Yeah. Now shoo, I need to get ready!" I smile.

He chuckles and leaves.

I have a quick shower, brush my teeth and then get dressed in dark blue skinny jeans, with a top and a white jumper. I brush my hair out and put it in a side braid. I grab my phone and skip downstairs. I'm glad to spend some quality time with my big brother.

I see mum and Steve in the kitchen, reading newspapers.

"Morning," I smile.

"Morning sweetie," mum smiles. She's so much happier now she's with Steve. She's not lonely anymore.
